If you’re ever in doubt, just ask yourself: WWCD? (What Would Carrie Do?)
More often than not, the answer will be unconventional, empowering, and maybe involve the body parts of animals.

So, we just learned that Carrie decided to take matters into her own hands and sent a man a cow tongue to a man harassing her friend, and I may never be the same again.
Carrie had an absolutely incredible career.
Many of us know her as the smart, commanding, and strong Princess Leia.
Her image represents so much to so many people — especially now, where she is used as a symbol of resistance for so many people, especially women.
But Carrie was so much more than Leia.
She appeared in things other than Star Wars , sure.
However, Carrie’s legacy as a writer can’t be understated. She worked as a script doctor who cleaned up and polished scripts for films like Hook , Sister Act , and even many of the Star Wars movies.
Everyone say, “Thank you, Carrie.”
Queen Carrie left us in 2016.
2016 sure was a cursed year, y’all.
She passed away on December 26th, followed shortly by her mother, Debbie Reynolds.
She had a request for how her obituary should be written, which I will now honor:
Carrie Fisher died in 2016. She drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra.
George Lucas once famously told Carrie that she couldn’t wear a bra as Leia, since there is no underwear in space. It would strangle her. She wrote :
“[…] no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.”
That obituary perfectly encapsulates Carrie’s personality.
She was unafraid of any topic, and a fiercely vocal supporter of women.
It’s pretty on brand that she had a very unique response to hearing her friend had been sexually harassed.
Did I say response? Let’s be real: she got revenge.
Screenwriter Heather Robinson Ross told the story on a radio show.
She and Carrie met on an AOL chatroom for screenwriters, which is a very old-fashioned sentence.
Heather told Carrie the story of being harassed by a high-profile producer, who chose not to publicly name.
She told Carrie his name, though.
Carrie took a moment.
“She stayed quiet and listened to me and then she said, ‘I promise you he will never touch you again.'”
A few weeks later, she messaged Heather and revealed what she’d done: hand-delivered the producer a cow’s tongue in a Tiffany’s box, topped with a bow.

Carrie left a note, too.
“It was a cow’s tongue from Jerry’s Deli in Westwood with a note that said ‘If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box.” She told NBC.
The internet immediately lost it.
We didn’t! We just didn’t.
Putting celebrities on pedestals is usually unfair, but I think it’s absolutely fair to say that Carrie Fisher was perfectly imperfect in every way. She was a true queen of complexity and irreverence.
This is proof of her legacy.
She would be so proud of the #MeToo movement based on this story alone.
What I wouldn’t give to hear her opinions on other men in Hollywood who were handed metaphorical cow tongues in the last few years.
Carrie was larger than life, just like Leia.
She would frequently go to conventions, where fans could tell her how much Leia meant to them. For some, though, Carrie herself was the star — not the character she played.
I met her once, and I can 100% relate to that gratefulness.
Same.
We’re coming up on the third anniversary of her death, and y’all! I am still not over it.
This December also marks the last Star Wars movie she’ll ever appear in: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will feature unused footage of her from The Force Awakens .
Seriously, she is so missed.
She’s still so culturally prevalent, which is beautiful.
In a way, she can never truly die. Her memory is kept alive in sweet tweets like this one, as well as in her words and films.
The Women’s March celebrated her in style.
Is there any other way to celebrate Carrie’s birthday, other than bringing up such an iconic moment?
Nope. Let’s make it a tradition to bring this up on all her birthdays from now on.
Heather never expected the response her story got.
She posted about it on Twitter, and the replies were full of love for both she and Carrie.
Heather gave us a gift by telling that story. But, more importantly, she’s so strong for surviving what she did.
