Tony Hawk might not exactly be the person that you would recognize right away. Don’t get me wrong, he’s incredibly famous. But he’s sort of been off most of our radars for a while.
But apparently, (and pretty hilariously) when he’s out and about, living his life, people often *semi* recognize him.

Because of this, Tony’s life has played out like a bad sitcom.
If you’ve had the pleasure of following Tony Hawk on Twitter, then you may know exactly what I’m talking about.

He often narrates these recurring situations for his fans via Twitter.
It’s insane how often it happens.
For instance, he tweeted about the time someone thought he looked like Tom Brady.

I’d like to kindly point out that Tony Hawk and Tom Brady do not look alike. At all.
Then there was the time a TSA agent knew they recognized him from somewhere, but they couldn’t quite place him.

At first, they thought he was a professional cyclist, Lance Armstrong — which is hilarious.
Then they thought he looked like a famous skateboarder and that they coincidentally shared the same last name.
This is too much.
Tony also shared an awkward elevator encounter he had last summer.

The person successfully realized he was standing in an elevator with Tony Hawk. But then proceeded to ruin the moment by calling him “not that recognizable’.
This one is a real head-scratcher.

When a girl spotted Tony at a restaurant and asked if it was really him, he said “yes” and her follow-up question was one that none of us, including Tony, know how to answer: “Why?”
A woman who shared an overhead carry-on compartment with Tony Hawk on a plane asked who the skateboard belonged to.
Can you imagine being on a plane with Tony Hawk, seeing a skateboard, and having the audacity to ask who it belongs to?
Anyways, the latest ‘Tony Hawk Twitter Tale’ has taken place at a car rental agency and it’s probably the greatest story I’ve read in a while.

It’s a been a slow news week, what do you want from me?!
While he was trying to return a car that he had rented, he noticed his name was missing from the monitor — so he went to speak with an agent directly.

We love effective customer service!
After the agent realized that Tony Hawk was standing in front of him, he realized he had made a big mistake.

The agent assumed someone punched in that name as a prank and deleted it.
And Tony, being the kind soul that he is, actually spared the car rental agent the public humiliation and risk of being fired.
He tweeted back at a fan’s response, confirming that the story was, in fact, very real and that he left out the agency’s name so that the agent wouldn’t be found out.
One fan pointed out that it’s kinda strange that the agent didn’t think there is possibly more than one person in the world named Tony Hawk.
It definitely seems more logical to think there just might be a second Tony Hawk out there before jumping to the conclusion that someone using a fake name at a car rental agency.
On the other hand, this person thinks that the agent made the right call because businesses get pranked like this more often than we think.

They went on to say that the agent will probably be losing sleep over this indefinitely.
Another fan suggested that Tony Hawk starts using the name “Anthony Hawk” instead, to avoid future confusion.

Things like this seem to happen to Tony often enough that this might be worth considering.
This person tweeted replied to Tony’s story, pointing out that at the rate these stories seem to happen to him, you’d think he was a “mythical creature or something”.

He’s just so unassuming, nobody can ever be sure if it’s really him or not.
This fan shared a meme making fun of the agent that accidentally deleted Tony Hawk’s car rental reservation.
The poor guy will never be the same. The weight of that fateful day will rest on his shoulders for the rest of his life.
Someone suggested Tony start a YouTube channel.
” Hey everyone welcome back to my channel. Today I’ve got another hilarious story about mistaken identities! “
Some fans think that he should write and publish an entire book of these short stories.

This is a brilliant idea. I would 100% buy this book.
For now, Tony’s just sticking to sweet emoji art and the love of the skate, bra!
But do we blame him? Absolutely not.
