The Sweet Baby

In both sets of pictures Tom and Lance Black shared on their Instagram, Baby Phoenix Rose could be seen dressed in a cardigan. The blue knitted cardigan had a brown heart-shaped motif at the back.
Baby Brother Kiss

Elder Brother, Robert “Robbie” Ray, could be seen planting a tender kiss on the forehead of Baby Phoenix Rose in the picture shared by Lance Black.
No One Knew

The British diver and his American screenwriter lover hid the big secret from their fans throughout the pregnancy. Unlike their first child, Tom and Lance Black chose to remain mute about the coming of Phoenix Rose until yesterday.
Prior Announcement

Although they didn’t make any official announcement until their post on Wednesday, media outlets already speculated the possibility of the newborn. A news statement read, “Black-Daley on March 28 to Thomas Robert Daley and Dustin Lance Black, a son, Phoenix Rose.”
Their First Child

The pair of lovebirds welcomed their first child Robert Ray via surrogacy on June 27, 2018. Before the birth date, the couple had announced in February of the same year that they were expecting their first child.
Tribute To Dad

Honoring his late dad, Tom and Lance Black agreed to name their first child after Tom’s father, Robert Daley — he died of a brain tumor in May 2011 at 40.
Choosing The Right Location

Tom previously spoke about the complications they faced when opting for surrogacy in either the UK or the US. At the time, he said, “We looked into it in the UK and in the US. In the UK, it’s a lot more complicated because surrogates aren’t as well protected legally, intended parents aren’t protected legally, it’s just not safe, there’s a lot of hurdles to have to jump over.”
He added, “In the US, everything is regulated in a way that keeps everyone safe, and in the US, the surrogacy process is a lot more streamlined.”
Continuing Their Lineage

Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast in 2022, Tom talked about how he and Lance Black were always drawn to surrogacy, as it was their way of keeping their family Lineage.
“Lance and I had lost so many people in our families, and there was something about surrogacy that we were drawn to that just meant that we could pass on the people that we’d lost, their genes and their thoughts, their feelings, their personalities and being able to bring someone into the world, that felt so extremely special.”
Ignorance Can Be Bliss

Tom has previously talked about the birth of their first child, revealing that he and Lance Black provided sperm to fertilize with the surrogate’s egg. In his statement, he also mentioned that he and Lance Black never checked and didn’t wish to know their first child’s biological father.
Previous Hint At Phoenix

In 2020, speaking with a news publication, the Olympic gold medalist hinted at possibly having another child with Lance Black. In his words, “We found an egg donor, and we are the sperm donors. We have fertilized half the eggs each.”
Adding, “We put in a boy embryo and a girl embryo, and we don’t know whose is whose. The next time we will do it the other way around.”
Not Easy But Wants More

While Tom also wanted to have more children with Lance Black, he revealed to The Guardian that it’s much more complicated for same-sex couples. “It’s not quite as easy as a bottle of wine and a good time. A lot of thought has to go into it. But absolutely, I’d love more kids.”
Tom’s Worries

The TV personality/diver once opened up about his past worries about having children when he realized he was gay. He said, “Once I started to realize that I was gay, it was like, how am I going to have children in the future? What does this look like for me? What are the options?”
Adding, “Having to figure out exactly how that was going to work, looking down the routes of adoption, surrogacy and all of those different things.”
The Age Gap Talk

Continuing his conversation with The Guardian , Tom was asked about his 20 years age gap with his partner Lance Black, Tom admitted that it has never been an issue.
He said, “If anything, Lance is very much the big kid in the house. I consider myself to be an older soul; hence I have nearly 200 houseplants, and I knit, and I like to be able to have conversations with people who have experienced a similar amount as I have.”
Tom and Lance: Origins

The lovely couple’s origin story was back in 2013 when they started dating. Four years later, the pair declared their love with a marriage union at Bovey Castle in Devon in May 2017.
Love At First Sight

Speaking with Out in 2016, the couple recalled their relationship as “love at first sight.” The pair also added, “We were so busy making all these plans — we both wanted to have children; we both wanted to build a home of our own someday.”
10 Years Together
Last month, the cupid-struck couple celebrated their tenth anniversary. The couple shared an anniversary post on their pages with Tom writing under his post , “10 YEARS! ❤️ Who would have thought that a random dinner 10 years ago today would turn into what we are today! Swipe to go back in time! ️”
