Have you heard of Tik Tok? If you haven’t, let me give you a little bit of an unofficial introduction. It’s a mobile app, sort of like its predecessor Vine, where users, mainly Gen Z kids, post funny, silly, and/or bizarre videos in a mashup sort of style that bodes well for our minimal attention span minds.
Like other social media platforms, many videos have gone viral from this app, like this wild nail hack that repurposes gum wrappers.

A Tik Tok video posted by user jeanbean shows us a super simple and bizarre way to achieve metallic nails without using polish.
She starts by unwrapping a blue metallic gum wrapper, and crumbling it up.
A trance-like synth-heavy song plays in the background as she smoothly separates the parchment-type paper from the foiled outer wrapper.
She then places the wrapper over her fingernail, working to smooth out the creases with a fingernail from her opposite hand.
The video then cuts to her smooth, metallic wrapper-wrapped nail, that doesn’t even look like a gum wrapper at all!
People were seriously shook, surprised, flabbergasted, overwhelmed by what their eyes had just witnessed.
“HOW DID YOU GET SUCH A CLEAN PEEL???!!” one user screamed.
Another remarked, “at first i was like “this has to be a joke” then half way through i was like “wait actually-.”
Who knew you could repurpose a gum wrapper to achieve a super trendy nail look!
Now, that’s one heck of a creative way to reuse and recycle if you ask me!
