While many moms keep a baby book or journal to document their experiences, Bonnie Kimmerly decided to draw comics about her new life.
Her hilarious comics capture those huge milestones all parents celebrate, but also the mundane day-to-day activities that come with parenthood .

Bonnie first began drawing her parenting comics after the birth of her first son.
“I found it incredibly therapeutic to create something unique out of these new experiences that I was having as a first-time mom. It was also a way for me to document new motherhood,” she said in an email to Diply.
Initially, she posted her comics for her friends and family to see, but soon other parents started to relate to them.
Bonnie has almost 3,000 followers on Instagram and her work has been featured in publications like HuffPost and Scary Mommy .
Bonnie’s hilarious and honest comics tackle breastfeeding, sleepless nights, and everything else that comes with being a parent.
“I have seen moms (and sometimes dads!) commenting from time to time on cartoons that resonate with them. That’s when I know I’ve hit the nail on the head and created something that really speaks to them on a parenting level,” she said.
She’s also charted her life as a mom with these humorous graphs.
This very scientific compass shows where certain beloved children’s characters rank. (Well, not all of them are beloved. I’m looking at you, Caillou.)

This one shows the evolution of a parent’s Netflix habits, and all I can say is that this is very, very accurate.
Bonnie has even made her own mom memes.
Do any other parents do this? I am definitely guilty of scrolling through Instagram on my phone after putting my son back to bed, even though I know I should be sleeping.
Even though most of Bonnie’s comics are light and funny, some of them address the more difficult aspects of parenting.
This one simply says, “Pushing Through,” and is sure to strike a chord with any parent who has had a long, sleepless night.
She’s also documented some of the less glamorous aspects of motherhood, like postpartum hair loss.
The popularity of Bonnie’s comics with parents speaks to how she is able to represent these universal experiences.
“No matter where you are in the world, being a new mom (or parent in general) is an adjustment and how we adapt to our new roles can be very similar,” she said.
Bonnie doesn’t have any definite plans for her comics right now, but plans to keep drawing and posting them as time permits.
