It’s almost time for the Met Gala in New York City. And that means it’s almost time to see your favorite celebrities dressed up in the finest couture as the stride up the steps of the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I wish I could say that everyone who is anyone will be in attendance, but that wouldn’t be exactly true.

First, here’s what you need to know about the Met Gala.
The Met Gala, a.k.a. the Costume Institute Gala or the Met Ball, is a yearly fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
The event takes place at the Met Museum on the first Monday of May every year and costs a whopping $30,000 per ticket to attend.
Each year, the gala celebrates the theme of the Costume Institute’s exhibit for that year.
Guests are then expected to attend in their finest gowns or costumes that fit that year’s theme.
Some of the outfits over the years have been breathtaking, while others have been pretty questionable.
This year the theme is “Camp: Notes On Fashion” and that means you can expect to see the who’s who of Hollywood dressed in their most over-the-top, glamorous and campy attire.
Except for the celebs who absolutely detest the event.
Zayn Malik gave the Met Gala a try and decided it wasn’t for him.
The former One Direction group member attended the 2016 Met Gala with his then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
And looked amazing in his Versace robotic arm suit, might I add.
Turns out, however, that Zayn isn’t much of a dress-up-and-hit-the-red-carpet kind of guy. In fact, it was his stylist who ultimately convinced him to attend.
In an interview with GQ magazine he said, “I’d rather be sitting at my house, doing something productive . . . To do the self-indulgent, ‘Look at me, I’m amazing’ thing on the red carpet, it’s not me.”
Amy Schumer once said attending the Met Ball felt like punishment.
“It’s people doing an impression of having a conversation… I don’t like the farce,” she told Howard Stern on his radio show back in 2016. “We’re dressed up like a bunch of f–king a–holes.”
Amy also told Howard that she has no interest in fashion and that when she got to meet Beyoncé, she told the star it would be her first, and last time attending the event.
Amy did end up going to the Met Gala the following year but we doubt we’ll be seeing her again this year.
Tina Fey made her first, and last appearance at the Met Ball back in 2010.
The comedian had some strong opinions to share after she attended the event once and vowed to never attend again.
In a 2015 interview with David Letterman, Tina remarked on her experience and said, “It is such a jerk parade. Every jerk from every walk of life is there, wearing, like, some stupid thing. . . I dragged my husband along with me, which I’m still in trouble for.”
She then went on to say, “Everyone is there, everyone. If you had a million arms, all the people you would want to punch are there.”
Yikes.
Demi Lovato had a terrible time when she attended the event.
In fact, there was one celebrity encounter that was so bad that Demi had to leave early and take herself to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting instead.
“This one celebrity was a complete b**ch and was miserable to be around. It was very cliquey,” she told Billboard about her experience in 2016. “I remember being so uncomfortable that I wanted to drink.”
Demi has been very public about her struggles with sobriety in the past.
She later went on to say that she related more to the homeless people at the AA meeting than she did with the stars at the gala who were “fake and sucking the fashion industry’s d–k.”
You won’t find the president of the United States at the Met Gala anytime soon.
In a 2017 game of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” on The Late Late Show with James Corden , Anna Wintour was asked about who wouldn’t be invited back to the Met Gala.
Her answer? Donald Trump.

Rachel Zoe let loose lips sink her invitation to the Met Ball.
The famous stylist may have said too much when she told the New York Times , “Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say that I’m more influential,” in a 2007 profile piece.
She allegedly had a spot at designer Brian Atwood’s table that year and quickly had her invitation snatched away after the editor caught wind of her remarks.
While she did attend the gala in 2010 and 2012, Rachel hasn’t been spotted on the Met Gala steps ever since.
I think the lesson here is don’t mess with Anna!
