A major problem in Hollywood is its lack of representation. It’s pretty much bad on all fronts. However, they are making some improvements, and that’s at least a start.
But William Yu is making some changes all on his own.
Hollywood isn’t always on the ball.

In fact, more often than not, they drop the ball.
That includes having the proper representation in films and television shows.
Let’s be honest, there’s not that much Asian rep in Hollywood.

Sure, there was Crazy Rich Asians but there aren’t a whole ton of movies where Asian characters play a lead.
Hollywood can be a pain that way.
Often, Asian characters are not even played by Asians.
Just ask Scarlett Johansson about Ghost in the Shell .
She received a lot of criticism for taking on the role in the first place.
Even though recently it’s been looking up, it’s not enough.
There are really not enough opportunities out there for Asian actors.
Hollywood is progressing at a slow pace, but hopefully, something will change soon.
Because of that, William Yu created the #SeeAsAmStar campaign.
In 2016, Yu made this social media campaign.
He photoshopped John Cho’s face on a bunch of posters and videos of major roles played by white men in Hollywood.
He continued the campaign with other major celebs.

This included Constance Wu, Steven Yeun, and Arden Cho.
The results, as you can see, are incredibly amazing. This photo has Constance Wu as Lucy in the role played by ScarJo herself.
Arden Cho starring in ‘The Hunger Games’.

We’re totally sure she would have been amazing in the role.
Maybe they can do a spin-off starring her!
We’ll leave this photo of Steven Yeun with you.

Imagine Steven Yeun in 500 Days of Summer ? That would have been something to see!
What do you think about this amazing campaign? Let us know in the comments!
