When I think about the Royal Family, I usually picture them the way they look at official events — very poised, very graceful, and usually lined up in a pretty pose. It honestly always impressed me how they managed to usually even corral the youngest members of the family into staying so poised all the time, but it turns out that when they’re not at events, even royal kids will just be kids.
This weekend marked Prince William’s 38th birthday.
“Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very Happy Birthday!” wrote the official Royal Family Instagram page, alongside this photo of the Prince and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Of course, the Kensington Royal Instagram also shared a post featuring a very poised photograph of William and his kids.

The picture was pretty adorable.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new picture of The Duke with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ahead of The Duke’s birthday tomorrow,” the caption on the post read, adding that “The picture was taken earlier this month by The Duchess.”
However, new photos were just shared of some less elegant pictures of the happy family.
“Thank you everyone for your very kind wishes on The Duke of Cambridge’s birthday today!” The Kensington Royal account shared alongside two new photographers of William and his kids, including this one featuring a pretty familiar dogpile to anyone who’s ever been around more than one kid at once.
The account also shared this super cute picture of all the kids on William’s back.
What an absolutely heartwarming picture of a dad with his kids! I have pretty much identical photographs of my brother and I with our dad, and it’s so sweet to see that even members of the Royal Family like to get out there and play rough just like every other family!
William wasn’t the only recent royal birthday, either.
Prince Phillip recently celebrated his 99th birthday, which was celebrated by the release of this photograph of him and The Queen. No pictures of his kids dogpiling on him on the grass have been released yet, but I wouldn’t hold your breath!
