Tons of movies have connections that we might not have known about until someone points it out, or until a director confirms what we thought might be true.
So finding these little Easter Eggs is always such a treat!

*Pretty Woman* debuted back in 1990.
The film starred Julia Roberts as the loveable prostitute with a heart of gold, Vivian Ward.
She starred opposite Richard Gere who played Edward Lewis.
It was a modern retelling of a *Cinderella* story.
Edward hires Vivian to pretend to be his girlfriend, in order to impress his fellow corporate bigwigs.
Not long after, he begins developing real feelings for Vivian.
During a particularly humorous dinner scene, Vivian accidentally flings her escargot.
She tries to casually laugh it off by saying:
“Slippery little suckers!”
However, the table is clearly not amused by her antics.
Luckily for Vivian, a generous waiter catches the snail and quickly disposes of it.
Sensing Vivian’s discomfort, the waiter flashes her a reassuring smile.
He goes on to say that “it happens all the time.”
*The Princess Diaries* is yet another modern twist on *Cinderella*.
The film stars Anna Kendrick as Mia Thermopolis; heir apparent to the Throne of Genovia.
As well as Julie Andrews who plays Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
During a dinner at the Royal Palace, Mia accidentally breaks a glass.
While attempting to gather the attention of the table, Mia ends up shattering a crystal flute.
FYI this is why weddings these days have a strict ‘no clinking’ policy.
And just like in *Pretty Woman*, a friendly waiter comes to her rescue.
And just like in Pretty Woman , the waiter delivers that very same familiar line:
“It happens all the time.”
Could it just be a coincidence?
It happens again in *The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement*.
After her speech, Mia begins waving a little too enthusiastically.
The jewelry on her left hand comes flying off and is caught by the palace guard over her left shoulder.
As you can probably guess, his reply is: “It happens all the time.”
Once is happenstance. Twice is a coincidence. But three times?!
Fans knew something was up. It drove audiences everywhere to ask the same inevitable question:
“Who in the heck was this guy?”
TikTok user @karlymaas was one of the first people to spot the continuity.
She starts off by saying how she first noticed the familiar line during her most recent re-watching of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement .
As it turns out, the director of all three films was a man named Garry Marshall.
He was the man who brought us films like Overboard , Runaway Bride , and most recently Mother’s Day .
But this is most likely what you’ll remember him from.
Garry had a brief cameo in the 1993 Halloween cult classic Hocus Pocus .
He was also one of the film’s Producers.
The friendly waiter, is a gentleman by the name of Allan Kent.
Having worked with Allan in Pretty Woman , Garry purposely brought him back to deliver the classic line.
Thus weaving all three films into the same universe…sort of.
Though connected loosely, they are connected nonetheless.
