After two years of closed theatres and disappointing releases due to the coronavirus , the movie world was looking grim.
Then, 2022 came along, bringing with it tons of fresh and captivating films that were rated highly on Rotten Tomatoes and must-see summer blockbusters .

‘Elvis’

This movie proved that Sandra Bullock has still got it! It provided lots of laughs and sweet moments.

‘Lightyear’
Disney wasn’t playing when they made this origin story about Buzz Lightyear. The film shows the beloved character on an intergalactic adventure alongside some friends, like a robot kitty companion. Chris Evans voicing Buzz will comfort those missing Tim Allen.

As a huge Bob’s Burgers fan, I’m proud to say that this movie didn’t disappoint! It had all the heart, laughter, and catchy songs that are in the show. What could be better than a comedy-mystery that also features music?

Oh, the horrors of modern dating. If you want to see the extremes of this, watch Fresh starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan. Without ruining too much of the plot, a woman falls for a man who has, well, quite the appetite.

It’s Channing Tatum and a dog, what could be better than that? While movies based around pets don’t usually score high on Rotten Tomatoes, Dog has 76 percent! It’s about a man in the military going on a road trip with a badly behaved dog.
‘Hustle’
This film, along with Uncut Gems , is proof that Adam Sandler shines in dramas. It shows him as a washed-up basketball scout who discovers an amazing basketball player in Spain. He uses this as his chance to get back into the NBA.
‘I Want You Back’
This film, starring Charlie Day and Jenny Slate, brought freshness to an otherwise dead genre. With a unique storyline and clever writing, it followed Peter (Day) and Emma (Slate) as random strangers who devise a plan to win back their exes.
‘Watcher’
Fan of horror flicks? You have to see Watcher , which stars Maika Monroe ( It Follows ). She plays a young actress who recently moved to town with her boyfriend. But soon, she notices that the man in the building across the street is watching her.
‘Turning Red’
This family comedy has the cutest plot ever: a 13-year-old girl turns into a red panda whenever she gets too excited. Similar to Inside Out , the film perfectly tackles puberty and even periods to help other girls feel less alone.
‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’
Michelle Yeoh absolutely shines in this masterpiece about an immigrant who must save the world by connecting with the lives she could’ve led in other universes . The film has been praised for being funny, emotional, and chaotic, all at once.
‘Jackass Forever’
When in the mood for some knockout fun, Jackass has your back. It’s the sixth film in the franchise and familiar faces are back, including Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Chris Pontius. As always, there are crazy and stupid stunts, including one that almost killed Knoxville.
