Celebrities are constantly being shamed for allowing their children to “grow up too fast” by other moms online. It seems that everyone just has to share their opinion on how other people raise their children.
Recently, “Teen Mom 2” star Chelsea Houska was the latest celeb mom to be dragged online.
Chelsea famously made her first appearance on 16 And Pregnant back in 2011.
At the time, Chelsea was only 18-years-old and had just given birth to her first daughter, Aubree.
The show captured her tumultuous relationship with Aubree’s father, Adam Lind. Chelsea and Adam separated in 2012.
Many fans of the show remember that Chelsea’s father supported her during her pregnancy and through the challenges of becoming a mom.
Her father is an important part of her life, and a lot has changed for Chelsea since she was on 16 And Pregnant and the follow-up show, Teen Mom 2 .
In 2016, she married her longtime partner, Cole DeBoer.
The two have since had more children: Watson born in 2017 and Layne born in 2018.
Like a lot of moms, Chelsea shares updates on her kids’ lives on social media.
The reality TV star shared a photo of her daughter online for her first day back to school.
Her daughter is posing with a huge smile, ready to start the school year.
The Teen Mom star wrote:
“Okay what the heck. She can stop looking so grown up now. she was OBSESSED with these earrings and wanted to wear lipstick this morning. Where’d my baby go?!”
Almost instantly, moms online began commenting about Chelsea’s decision to let her daughter wear big hoop earrings and makeup.
Her oldest daughter, Aubree, is nine-years-old.
Many moms commented saying Aubree is “too young” for lipstick and hoop earrings.
The comments came swiftly and didn’t hold anything back.
Another commenter said she tells her daughter, “no” when her daughter asks to wear hoops.
“My daughter is 12 and ask to wear my hoop earrings all the time or if I could buy her some. The answer HELL No too young. She stopped asking and lipstick to school nope. That look [is] for dress-up only, but not in public and definitely not to school.”[sic]
And another Instagram user said Chelsea shouldn’t let her kids “make the choices.”
“Are you cracking up also. I think your a good mom but come on, what is she 10 or 11 and you think it’s ok to wear lipstick, get a grip, WRONG, kids DON’T MAKE THE CHOICES, PARENTS DOOOOOO, don’t let her grow up to fast then she might be In the SAME SITUATION YOU WERE !”
Another mom said she’d never let her kid wear those earrings.
“What grade is she in? I won’t even let my 13 yr old wear earrings like that.”
This user put it bluntly.
“Beautiful but the earrings have to go. She’s still little,” they said. Well, that was to the point, I suppose.
But, some were saying that it’s ridiculous to shame Chelsea and her daughter.
Many commented standing up for Chelsea and her daughter, saying she’s old enough to decide.
One mom said 9-year-olds are very opinionated.
“Please. She’s 9. She’s old enough to know what she likes and only Chelsea and Cole can decide if she’s mature enough to wear them. STOP MOM SHAMING! If you wouldn’t let your daughter wear them, then that’s fine but Aubree is not yours so it’s not your decision to make or judge.”
Many praised Chelsea for how she had raised Aubree.
“Been keeping up w you guys since 16 and pregnant and wow Chelsea have you raised a bright and beautiful young lady,” said one commenter.
Another said people are wasting their time.
“All these people making a fuss over some earrings. Like there aren’t bigger problems in the world lol.”
People couldn’t believe that some had such a problem with the earrings.
“Y’all are reaching too far. They’re earring sis, chill out. It’s not like she’s got a tattoo,” said one user.
Frankly, some people were confused over the drama.
“Why are people mad over a pair of cute earrings? EARRINGS. Literally a piece of jewelry. I’m so confused,” one user said in their Instagram comment.
No matter how old Aubree is, moms shouldn’t spend their time shaming other moms.
Let kids be kids, and let parents raise their kids!
