The 54-year-old pedestrian was buried under the debris of the collapsed building and pronounced dead upon arrival of emergency services. Five other casualties, including drivers of both cars, sustained multiple injuries and were instantly rushed to the nearby hospital.

In the latest news from CBS, the officers involved in the pursuit are under investigation by the Independent Investigations Division of the Office of the Attorney General. Their identities or names were not disclosed.

According to Waheedah, the collapsed building was formerly a restaurant called Northstar and it already had major fire damages and was unoccupied before the vehicles collided with it.

Waheedah has lived in that community for about eight years and attested that the building had been on the verge of collapsing for the last 15 years. She added that the government should have demolished the structure years ago.
