One of the highlights of each year’s Super Bowl is the commercials. Seeing as it’s one of the most viewed television events year after year, companies pay top dollar for coveted ad space during the game’s commercials.
And this year was no exception. A number of high-profile celebrities joined forces with different companies in order to deliver some of the most entertaining commercials of the year.
That includes Steve Martin , who appeared in a hilarious commercial for Pepsi Zero Sugar.
The Ad Runs A Minute Long And Goes All Sorts Of Places

It starts out with Martin dressed as a surgeon, telling his patient that she’s going to like her new nose.
Though, Nothing Is As It Seems

The camera angle changes to reveal that the patient is actually a dog.
Martin then breaks character and begins to address the viewers. “As an actor, it’s my job to make people believe that what they’re seeing is real,” the Only Murders in the Building star says.
Then, The Commercial Changes To A New Scene

Martin is in a bank this time, and is next in line for service. But as he appears at the desk, the woman working behind the counter sticks a “closed” sign up on the plexiglass.
Now, Steve Martin Is Angry.

He begins to get huffy, looking angrily in the direction where the worker left.
And Then He Escalates His Emotions.

Angrier still, Martin stretches over the counter. Confused customers in line behind him look on.
But Of Course, This Is All Just Acting

He once again breaks character, looks to the audience, and explains that his anger is actually fake.
In The Next Scene, Martin Is In A Restaurant.

Steve Martin sits down, expressing how hungry he is as a waiter brings a covered dish to his table.
But The Meal On The Dish Is Disappointing

The waiter removes the cover to reveal an incredibly tiny portion of food, too small to even be considered an appetizer.
Martin’s Emotion This Time Is Disappointment

He looks down at his plate and groans, noting how sparse the food is.
But Of Course, He’s Just Acting

Once again, Martin breaks character to explain to the viewers that he isn’t really disappointed. He’s just acting.
Then, Steve Martin Appears In A Living Room With A Family

During a family game night, Martin moves a piece on a game board. He then jumps up, excited that he’s just won.
He Then Begins To Rub It In Everyone’s Faces.

The actor gloats as all the other family members — both adults and children, look pretty disappointed.
But Once Again, It’s Just Acting.

Martin breaks character one more time to explain that, even though he looks elated over his victory, he’s just acting.
Finally, Martin Appears With The Pepsi Product

As he explains that he’s just acting out those different emotions rather than feeling them, Martin takes a sip from a can of Pepsi Zero Sugar. He then gets really excited and claims that the drink tastes great.
Or… Does It?

Martin then explains that, while he really seemed to enjoy the zero-sugar Pepsi, he could still just be acting. The only way for the audience to find out if he’s lying is to try it for themselves.
You Can Watch The Commercial In Its Entirety Here!
The hilarious commercial was uploaded to Pepsi’s official YouTube channel ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl, and it already has more than 2.7 million views.
Before Their Release, Martin Appeared With Ben Stiller In Teasers
Steve Martin wasn’t the only actor to appear in Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercials. Comedian Ben Stiller had an ad of his own. The pair appeared in a teaser where they discussed their commercials.
A Second Teaser Was Also Uploaded To The Channel
In the second of the two teasers, Martin and Stiller appear side by side and continue their banter from the first.
And Stiller’s Commercial Is Equally Hilarious
Much like Martin’s commercial, Stiller appears in various scenes and conveys different emotions, only to reveal that it’s all acting.
Both actors did an incredible job with their commercials!
