As a border collie owner, I can personally attest to the fact that they are the smartest dog breed. They learn new tricks in under five minutes, herd sheep, and easily manipulate their humans into doing what they want with their adorable faces.
They even know how to turn themselves in to the police when they’re lost!

She’s a rescue who was out for a walk with her dad, Steve, 68, and the family’s second dog, Laser, when someone set off fireworks in the area. “She went and stood with her dad, which she does when she is nervous, and then skedaddled [when the firework went off],” Steve’s wife, Julia, told the BBC .
Thankfully, Rosie knew exactly where to go for help.
A Leicestershire Police Station in England Shared the Surveillance Footage of Rosie Staggering In
The video showed the smart border collie enter the lobby of the police station, walk around a bit, and then go rest by the benches.
The Leicestershire Police wrote on their Facebook page that their staff fetched some water for Rosie and made fast friends with her.
Since she was wearing a collar, the police were able to contact Rosie’s parents about her whereabouts and adventures.

Julie recalled the phone call she received from the police station. This happened right after they had gone home and dropped off their second dog.
“They said, ‘Have you got a black and white collie?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ and then they said, ‘She just walked up and handed herself into the station.’ “

Julia explained that someone let off a firework, which Rosie does not like. She even hates bonfire nights. When it happens, she will just “go and hide in the bath and shake.”
Poor pup!
Although the family was “really upset” that Rosie had run off, they are incredibly relieved that she was back home safe.
“I was so pleased and so happy she was safe and so proud of her that she was clever enough to find her way to the police station,” said Julie.
