Marriages are complicated enough when there’s just two people involved — I can only imagine it gets more difficult the more people who get involved (children AND spouses included)!
My theory seems to be proven by all the drama that goes down in the relationships between Kody Brown and his wives on the TLC show Sister Wives.
*Sister Wives* has been a staple on reality television for over a decade.

The show follows polygamist Kody Brown and his four wives — Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn — as they raise their 18 children.
Kody and his first wife, Meri, have been married since 1990, but they have recently opened up about how their relationship has changed since those days.
In a recent episode of the show, Meri discussed feeling distant from Kody.

“They say that a person needs four hugs a day just to survive. People probably are not getting four hugs a day right now. I love hugs and touch, from the appropriate person, you know what I mean?” Meri said .
“And when you don’t have that, it feels really, really lonely,” she went on.

“He doesn’t typically come to my house very often. Maybe now that Mariah and Audrey are here, he might come and visit with them at the end of the two weeks,” Meri continued, referencing the two week isolation period recommended during the pandemic.
Kody himself confirmed what Meri said.

“There’s just been nothing going on between me and Meri,” Kody explained. “She interacts with the family for the holidays and the birthdays, we get together once in a while, I see Meri once in a blue moon, but we quit dating and that’s just probably because I quit calling her to say, ‘Let’s go do something.'”
