While the words “bedridden” might sound like days of Netflix and snacks to some, for mom-to-be, Shay Mitchell, it sounds like a prison sentence.
She even ended up breaking down over the whole thing.
There’s so much Shay Mitchell has to look forward to with her first baby being due this month!

But one thing that she is absolutely not looking forward to is the possibility of having to do a c-section (or cesarian).
The possibility of having to do this was captured on the “You” star’s latest episode of her YouTube series, “Almost Ready.”

In the series, she and boyfriend, Matte Babel, captured all of the highs and lows that come with expecting your first child.
This includes the controversial episode where Babel caught flack for not wanting Mitchell to have an epidural.

His reasoning behind this highly-criticized stance was that he’s a hypochondriac who’s afraid of drugs.
“I meet women all the time who didn’t choose to use epidurals,” he said.

Naturally, those comments led to tons of criticism online.
“Is Boyfriend Matte Babel pushing the baby out of his vagina? DIDN’T THINK SO,” someone wrote on Twitter.
Fans of Shay’s were SO happy when Shay gave Matte a dose of female reality by having him wear a 30-pound stomach that delivered electric shocks.
Now, in the series most recent episode, Shay broke down over the possibility of having to get a c-section.

It was all due to the baby’s position.
“I was honestly going in there and thinking she was good, with the head down,” Shay said after leaving the doctor’s office.

“I had somebody tell me that was worse than labor. They have to physically move her in your stomach.”
“Any time you want to get mad at me in the future, just think about what I’m going through,” she told Babel.

When Babel asked Mitchell how she felt about having to do a c-section, she broke down in tears.
“I can’t even talk about this. It’s actually gonna make me upset,” she responded. “Even if it doesn’t happen today, I don’t want to have to do that.”

Babel tried to reassure her, by saying, “I know, but they’re gonna spin her today. Placenta’s out of the way, you have lots of fluid and the baby’s sitting high. There’s no question she’s gonna turn today.”
At the root of it, her fears toward a c-section stemmed from not wanting to be bedridden.

“I cannot be bedridden for however long it’s gonna be. I really don’t want that. If I’m in bed, I’m gonna go nuts,” she cried.
“You’ll be able to live your life still and I’ll be [expletive] stuck after the baby’s born.”

“You can’t even lift them sometimes because it hurts so much.”
Another reason why she was so upset about being bedridden could have something to do with her plans to skip maternity leave.

“My entire team knows that there’s no maternity leave for me,” she told People .
The reason why? “I do a lot of my work on my phone and I have another company that I run.”

“I love what I do, so for me, it doesn’t feel like work.”
The only thing that calmed her down was Beyoncé (of course).
“I think Beyonce had a c-section,” she said. “That’s the only thing that’s making me feel better, to be honest.”
In the end, it turned out that all of those tears were for nothing!

The baby had turned, leading to a very ecstatic (and surprised) mom-to-be.
