Dining with Oprah is a lot like dining with the late Queen.
You should sit up straight and have the right fork in your hand. Additionally, certain topics, like politics and religion, are off-limits.
Country music star, Shania Twain , learned this lesson the hard way when she had a dinner date with the media mogul and it turned “sour.”
Shania Twain isn’t holding anything back.

The Canadian country music star just released her first solo single in five years called “Waking Up Dreaming.” It’s all part of her sixth album, which is currently untitled. Like most of her music, it’s upbeat.
“This album is very chirpy and I’m very frank with my lyrics on it, so it’s not a fluffy, lyrical album. It’s a happy album,” she told ‘The Sun.’

“I had a very productive songwriting
pandemic period and as much as we were isolated, it was almost like I wanted to cheer myself up, and that just came out in the music.”
“It’s so danceable,” she added.

The “Man, I Feel Like a Woman” crooner has also been working on reinventing her image. For her single’s artwork, she decided to bare all by going topless.
“I styled that photograph myself,” she said.
“It was all about taking off the bra, taking off the shirt, tying the shirt around my waist,” she continued.
“This is a statement of being comfortable in my own skin and just being really myself.” We love that for her!
The 57-year-old added that she won’t listen to the criticism about dressing a certain way for her age.

Fellow musicians like Madonna have been criticized for this.
“You have to be strong. I never really get angry with criticism. You can’t please everybody, that’s normal.”
Speaking of baring all, Shania recently recalled the awkward dinner date she had with none other than Oprah.

She shared the shocking story to singer and host Jessie Ware and her mother, Lennie, on a new episode of the Table Manners podcast.
During their chat, they asked her about a notable dinner in her life.

“I think one of my most memorable dinners was with Oprah Winfrey,” Twain said, adding that they ate at a restaurant. “She’s such a smart lady,” she added.
“It was great to just sit and have real talks.”

But things took an awkward turn when the conversation turned to religion. “As soon as we started talking about religion, it all went sour. So, I said, ‘Let’s stop talking about religion!'” recalled Twain.
“She is quite religious.”

This wasn’t the first time they sat down and had a conversation. Throughout Twain’s long career, she has been interviewed by Oprah several times. They also worked together on the 2011 docuseries, Why Not? With Shania Twain.
While Oprah is religious, Shania is not.

“I’m not religious in the sense that I’m dedicated to a religion. I’m much more of a spiritual person,” she said.
“I would say I’m a seeker.” In the end, the experience taught her a hard lesson: never talk about politics or religion at the dinner table.
“It just wasn’t debatable.”

“There was no room for debate, and I like to debate,” added Twain. “Canadians like to debate everything. So, I’m like, ‘Oh, OK. It’s time to change the subject.'”
