The 27-year-old reality star Savannah Chrisley has responded to rumors about her role in her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, receiving a pardon from prison by President Donald Trump last Tuesday, May 27.
She set the record straight
In a press conference alongside her 56-year-old father on Friday, May 30, Savannah set the record straight about rumors that she ‘slept’ with someone for the pardon.
“Obviously, the biggest misconception right now is that I either paid for a pardon or slept for a pardon,” she told reporters.
Savannah denied the rumors
The reality star said, “That’s the biggest misconception right now, and if people knew the countless hours and the money and the time that I spent going to DC, literally with not a meeting scheduled, and I just got on a plane and went and said, ‘I’m going to be in the right room at the right time and meet the right people.’”
She advocated for her parents’ release
At the Nashville, Tennessee press conference, she added, “I fought hard, and I was exhausted, and I begged for meetings.”
“I was never too good to ask. That’s the thing, is people think, ‘Oh, you’re a celebrity, you’re white, you have money.’ That we got an upper hand, and we didn’t.”
“I had to fight, and I was relentless, and that’s how it happened,” she said.
Her parents were indicted in 2019
Todd and Julie Chrisley were indicted in 2019 when federal prosecutors accused the 52-year-olds of submitting fake documents to banks with the aim of garnering more than $30 million in loans.
They had each served over two years
Todd was sentenced to 12 years and Julie was sentenced to seven. At the time of their release, the couple had each served a little over two years of their sentences.
The family spoke about returning to TV
Elsewhere in the press conference, Savannah and Todd mentioned coming back to reality television as a family after having ended their show Chrisley Knows Best in 2023 after 10 seasons.
Todd said he and Julie “started filming literally the night that we got home,” on Wednesday.
They immediately dove back into filming
“As soon as we got home, so I think with this new series, you will see the first time he and mom see each other for the first time,” Savannah chimed in on her father’s statement.
