Sarah Jessica Parker has shared an emotional post about the beloved show Sex and the City (SATC) that has left many fans ‘in tears’.
The spinoff is ending
The actress shared a statement on Friday, August 1 following news that the SATC spinoff And Just Like That… will be ending after three seasons.
The showrunner Michael Patrick King announced the spin-off series was ending with a two-part finale.
She shared photos from her time as the character
Sarah Jessica Parker shared an Instagram post with a montage of photos from her time playing the iconic character Carrie Bradshaw.
It showed moments from both Sex and The City and And Just Like That…
She recalled all of Carrie’s adventures
In the post Parker said, “She crossed streets, avenues, rubicons, so it seemed. She broke hearts, heels, habits.”
“She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short, and into puddles. Aged, got wiser. She has made the hardest, worst, and best decisions. Traveled near and far, for the new, the vintage, friends, and love.”
Parker mentioned all the changes
“Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City,” Parker added, paying tribute to Carrie’s moments on the two shows.
“She had dates, drinks, boyfriends, a husband, and truly great loves and romances.”
The long tribute was an emotional one
“She hailed cabs, she ran in heels, and danced with Stanford. She told the truth and she lied. She typed, wondered, wrote, published, grieved, forgave. Got stood up, stood strong, stood out,” Parker went on.
“She devoted herself to hats, books, shoes, friends and the promise of a new day in her beloved city and the people she treasured most. She has worn shame, pride, honor, optimism and literally countless dresses, skirts, tutus.”
She also recalled Carrie’s friends
Parker also mentioned Carrie’s best friends, adding that she “held onto hands, hopes and the very best of people.”
“Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, there will never be better friends and what great fortune for Carrie to come to know and love Seema and LTW, most divine new connections.”
Parker acknowledged Carrie’s effect on her career
The 60-year-old actress also acknowledged how playing Carrie Bradshaw shared her career, saying that the character had “dominated [her] professional heartbeat for 27 years.”
“I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned, and rooted for her,” she said.
The actress is grateful for Carrie
Parker went on, “The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore, the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt.”
Concluding her post, she thanked her colleagues and fans of the franchise.
