Well, it looks like one of the best directors of all time is dissing Marvel movies… but is anyone really all that surprised?
Marvel movies are just popcorn flicks and Scorsese makes serious movies…
Marvel movies are probably the biggest thing in cinema right now.

And have been for the past decade…and will probably continue to be.
But not everyone is super happy with that.
Jennifer Aniston is one of those people.

She thinks that Marvel movies are actually “diminishing” cinema.
She wants the era of Meg Ryan back (which is fair, she was in some good movies).
Martin Scorsese also came out with a diss against Marvel movies.

He said, and I quote :
“I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema,”
Of course, the entire internet all… how do I put this politely… lost their freaking minds?
Close enough.
And he goes on.

Yes, Scorsese even had more to say :
“Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks.”
He continued with:

“It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”
Seriously, it’s like everyone in Marvel stood up and took a stance against what Scorsese had to say.
James Gunn, Joss Whedon, all these people came out and pretty much all said the same thing:
“I love Marton Scorsese, but I disagree with the fact that our movies are not cinema”.
Even some fans had something to say about the whole thing.
This Twitter user makes a very valid point!
Art is art, and what Marvel does, a lot of movies can’t do (and when they try, get badly reviewed).
People are actually taking his comments very seriously.
Hey, Marvel fans are a dedicated people.
They don’t go down without a fight, that much is for sure.
The loudest voice, apparently, was Samuel L. Jackson.

Who said to Variety :
“I mean that’s like saying Bugs Bunny ain’t funny. Films are films. Everybody doesn’t like his stuff either.”
And you know what, he’s got the best point of them all.

“Everybody’s got an opinion, so I mean it’s okay. Ain’t going to stop nobody from making movies.”
What do you think about this whole discussion?

Do you think that Scorcese is right? Or wrong? Or you don’t care because everyone has a right to their own opinion?
