Another film, Cold Mountain, led the actress to the rocker of the White Stripes. They met when he had a small part as a troubadour. They went on to quietly date for almost two years.

They worked together to create a beautiful space for Jerome and Jerald Cowan, the nurses who cared for Renée’s late friend, publicist Nanci Ryder, in her final years.
The couple got together just days after Ant’s divorce from Flip or Flop star, Christina Haack, was finalized.
Renée told ‘Vanity Fair’ that she believes their relationship was “a gift” from Ryder.
“Yeah, we do joke about that. She’s always doing her best. It made me smile. It made me smile to think on this, yeah, the serendipity of it all.”
