The Redditor who is identified as a 19-year-old female narrated her story . She lives with her father, stepmother, and 9-year-old brother. The teenager explained that her dad and stepmom were to go out on Friday. They were to attend her stepmom’s parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. Meanwhile, she and her brother were meant to stay home. The Redditor instead made plans of going on a date with her boyfriend.

The Redditor’s dad and stepmom wanted her to stay home and babysit her brother. She used to babysit him but they never paid her. Adding to that is that her brother is very hyperactive.
After several complaints, they decided to employ a babysitter. When it was Friday, they left for the party and the Redditor prepared to go on her date. While getting ready, a call came in from her stepmom. She explained that the babysitter had canceled last minute and it was late so the Redditor had to babysit. The teenager refused and said she was still home for 40 minutes. This was supposed to be enough time for them to return but the stepmom hung up.
After waiting for extra 15 minutes without her dad and stepmom in sight, the Redditor texted them that she was leaving. She explained that when she was 10 she was home alone and the neighborhood was nice. Since the parents did not return, she thought they were thinking the same thing.
However, when the Redditor got home, her stepmom was upset she let her brother home. Her stepmom called her Irresponsible and said she was not concerned about her family. Also, she told the teenager to pay for the vase that her brother broke. The Redditor does not see the reason for this since she had warned them before leaving.
Also, the Redditor shared that the house was gifted to her parents by her grandmother when they got married. When her parents got separated, her mother left the house to her dad. Only on the condition that the Redditor could live there till the end of grad school.
She also added that the housing is free because of the contract her dad signed and forcefully has to comply with. Aside from that, the Redditor pays for everything else. She makes her food and does other things herself. Also, she has watched her stepbrother several times without pay before.
