As a very powerful earthquake shook parts of Russia and Japan on Wednesday, one operation room remained calm with doctors carrying on with their surgery.
A video of the moment was shared online and people are pretty impressed with the medical professionals.

An 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit
On Wednesday July 30, a horrifying 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit off Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka coast, which triggered tsunami warnings for areas as far away as French Polynesia and Chile, per Reuters.
It also hit Japan and caused evacuations
The earthquake also hit Japan’s eastern seaboard, which was previously devastated by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a following tsunami in 2011.
Evacuations have been ordered in the area as well as in parts of Hawaii as tsunamis are expected in the Pacific following the earthquake.
But a video of surgeons showed they staying put
As the violent earthquake hit parts of Russia, a video from an operation room in the country showed surgeons carrying on with their work as the building shook around them, and people were impressed with their ability to stay focused.
A popular TikToker shared the video
Content creator Dylan Page who has garnered 16.6M followers on TikTok shared the video, saying, “This has gotta be one of the craziest videos from the earthquake so far.”
“Doctors in Russia were seen continuing their surgery as the hospital is being rocked by one of the most powerful earthquakes in recorded history– the 6th most.”
They stayed put for their patient
“But they didn’t panic,” Page said in an impressed voice. “They didn’t run out the room and try and save themselves. Rather, they just remained calm, they finished their surgery, and stayed with the patient until the very end.”
The health ministry praised them
The video maker added, “In fact, the health ministry even posted after showing that the surgery was successful and the patient is recovering well.”
But it wasn’t just the Ministry of Health in Russia that praised them, people online were also inspired.
Those who saw the video were touched
Commenters under the video were in awe of the surgeons’ resilience, with one person writing, “Wow that’s incredible.”
Another said, “They are some real heroes,” while a third echoed, “Bravo to them!!”
