Ozzy Osbourne, the rock music legend, passed away on Tuesday, July 22 at the age of 76. His family have since released a statement following his passing, which people have noticed a strange detail about.
He passed away after a charity gig
Osbourne, who was the Black Sabbath frontman, had reunited with his old band in Birmingham for a charity performance which would end up being his last gig as it took place only a week before his death.
The singer passed away on Tuesday, July 22, at the age of 76.
Ozzy was suffering from various health problems
The legendary rocker had suffered from various health problems, enduring a 22-year-long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he had only informed the world about in 2020.
He performed his last gig sitting down
Ozzy revealed earlier this year that he could no longer walk, which is why he sang at his last gig from a black throne with his former bandmates.
The crowd loved what would ultimately be his last performance, and the gig raised over £1 million ($1.3 million) for charity.
The family shared a statement after his death
In the wake of Ozzy’s death, his family released a statement, saying, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
It’s worth noting that he had 6 kids
Ozzy had a total of 6 children: Jack, Aimee, and Kelly with his wife Sharon; and Louis and Jessica from his first wife Thelma Riley. He also adopted Riley’s son, Elliot Kingsley, which makes him a father of six.
But people noticed missing names
The Osbourne family’s statement caught people’s eyes because of the names signed at the end, and lack thereof.
It is known that Aimee and Kelly are not on speaking terms, with Kelly telling the Dax Shepard podcast, Armchair Expert, in 2021, “We don’t talk. We’re just really different. She doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand her.”
Both signed the tribute message despite the differences
But despite their differences, both Aimee and Kelly signed their father’s tribute statement, which then left people wondering why another two of his children, Elliot and Jessica, weren’t mentioned at all.
Jessica made a public tribute
Although people are still confused as to why Jessica and Elliot were omitted from the family statement, the former did make a public tribute to her father, posting an Instagram story that read ‘RIP Ozzy’.
It’s unclear whether Elliot will too
Elliot doesn’t have public social media accounts, so it remains unclear whether he will pay tribute to his late father who adopted him over 50 years ago when he was around 5 years old.
