Over the centuries, people have been trying to crack the code on secret ways to achieve a clear, glowing complexion.
But Canada’s heartthrob, Shawn Mendes has recently revealed his secret for great skin and people are, well, disgusted.
It’s pretty obvious that Shawn has beautiful skin.
Not a single blemish, or enlarged pore in sight, and his skin looks perfectly dewy like grass on a crisp autumn morning.
I had just assumed the reason for his gorgeous skin was because he’s a pop-star that has access to all the top notch cleansers, toners, serums and peels.
He’s been really killing it lately, I can only imagine he’s raking in the dough.
Last month he won a Juno award.
Actually, won five Junos, including album of the year.
Very impressive, but not at all surprising — his songs have been fire since day one.
He’s also been pretty busy on tour these days.
He will be touring all through the United States and Canada all through the summer.
Anyways, you get the picture. Shawn Mendes is on the rise.
And as such, he’s beginning to give us peasants some advice — starting with our complexions.
But are we really going to start taking dermatology advice from a 20-year-old?
Last week, during a fan Q&A, Shawn candidly revealed the secret to his baby-bottom-like skin.
It wasn’t something time-consuming or complicated at all. There were no top-notch cleansers, toners, serums or peels involved.
“My skin care routine — I’m not lying when I tell you guys that I just don’t wash my face,” he announced.
Hold up, Shawn — do my ears deceive me? I could have sworn I just heard you say that you just never wash your face?
“I meditate a lot. I think skin is very based off of how you’re feeling,” he went on.
Okay.
While I’m all for meditation and totally believe in its magical powers to clear one’s cluttered mind, reduce stress and reduce anxiety, I’m not so sure I can get on board with this .
“You could rub dirt on your face, but if you’re happy, you won’t break out,” he said.
“If you’re unhappy or sad or stressed, that’s when you break out the most. Just do everything that will make you happy.”
Stress can most definitely effect someone’s skin in a big way — that’s just a fact. But it certainly isn’t the only contributing factor, here.
Meditation isn’t going to save you from clogged pores due to pollution or sweat and it isn’t going to combat sun-damage, free radicals, wrinkles or scars.
Obviously, fans were like, Shawn, WYD?
The jokes came flooding in — sarcastically saying that the secret to Shawn’s skin is to do an intense, full-body workout and then not wash your face after.
Most of all, however, fans were calling BS.
This fan tweeted a video of Khloé Kardashian screaming “liar”, insinuating that Shawn was downplaying his skin routine — not giving us the full truth.
Another fan compiled photos of Shawn using sheet masks on his face.
Shawn said the key to perfect skin is being constantly happy and never washing your face. But what I’m seeing here, is that Shawn most definitely has a legitimate skincare routine outside of what he’s told us.
Shawn, why you trying to play us like this?!
This fan blatantly called him out, telling him to stop lying about his skincare regime.
Never washing your face is just way too gross to be true.
Other fans are demanding that he washes his face.
This person actually wants to physically fight him for trying to influence others never to wash their faces.
