No matter how hard you try as a parent, there are always tricky situations that are bound to happen. Raising children in a house where everything is exciting and new to them can be tough.
We may not get excited over outlets and wires, but toddlers who have never seen them before want to touch and discover and play. That’s why baby-proofing homes is so important to new parents. But, no matter how hard you baby-proof and ask kids to behave, things happen.

A parent’s biggest fear is when kids draw all over the walls with crayons.
Whenever we see our toddler with a pen, marker, or crayon in hand, we immediately go into panic mode. The last thing we want is to have to scrub walls and tables all night.
But, no matter how much we warn our kids, they always love to push boundaries.
When you tell a kid “no,” it’s like fueling the fire in their soul. They want to know what is going to happen if and when they color on tables and walls, no matter how mad you get.
Sometimes, there’s nothing else we can do.
Even if we yell and put the kids in time out, sometimes it just means that we get aggravated and our kids feel bad. It doesn’t mean that they won’t do it again.
Instead, some parents get pretty creative with their kid’s decisions.
Punishments don’t always work and yelling doesn’t always help. Instead, some parents just try to find the silver linings in the chaos that comes with parenthood. And, truly, some parents get it right.
Dr. Eric Masicotte is one of those parents that got is so very right.
Dr. Eric Masicotte, a neurosurgeon, associate professor, and medical director of the mTBI/Concussion Program at the University of Toronto, shared what he and his wife decided to do with their son’s artwork.
He shared he and his wife’s creation on Twitter.
After seeing that their son decided to take a green marker to the wall and draw an entire house, he and his wife made the decision to frame it as though it was a piece of art in a museum.
Their son got complete and total recognition for his artwork.
Not only did they frame it, but they made an artwork label with their son’s name and titled the piece, “Interrupted House.” The artwork label also showcased the medium, “Marker on latex paint.“
The best part is the last label.
The end of the artwork label said, “Gifted to his parents, by surprise. Nov. 13th.” That truly is the icing on the cake for me. These parents just know how to make lemonade out of lemons.
Dr. Masicotte made a pretty great point, too.
The neurosurgeon wrote alongside his photos on Twitter saying, “Your kids are going to do things they shouldn’t. It helps if you married someone with a sense of humour.” Truly, that’s all we need.
