Last week, a Facebook post by Minnesota-based beer and liquor store MGM Wine & Spirits Mankato went viral for featuring limited edition 99 packs of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
Pabst Blue Ribbon is giving back in a big way for all of the attention the company has generated.
The Internet lost it’s mind over this limited edition variety pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
So much so, that it sold out within 24 hours of MGM Wine advertising the beer on their Facebook page.
Social media users and news outlets caught wind of the virality of the product, and also proceeded to lose their minds. People began wondering where they could get one themselves, borderline enraged that it wasn’t being sold in their town.
Because of the positive attention, the folks over at PBR have decided to donate a whopping $9,999.99 to an Austin-based charity.
They decided to pay homage to Austin Beerworks, the creators of the 99 pack, by giving back to their neck of the woods.
Specifically, the money will be going to the Central Texas Food Bank.
“Ideas are hard and they don’t all stick,” said PBR’s General Manager Matt Bruhn in a press release.
“The 99 pack was a chance for us to pay homage to a great idea, give the world more beer to enjoy responsibly over the holiday season and help a local community.”
It’s refreshing to see a company use the popularity of a holiday item to give back to those who struggle the most during this time of year.
The 99 pack is currently available in 15 states, including Texas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Florida, New York, South Carolina, Montana, Virginia, California, Wisconsin, Iowa, Arkansas, and Colorado, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for it and get one while it lasts!
