“It’s worked for us because we both do different things and it’s exciting when we are together,” Parton told E! News of her relationship.
The two reunite and catch up
Since Parton goes about her artist duties and Dean does what makes him happy, the two always enjoy catching each other up on their work when they reunite.
“So the fact that there’s some little space that makes it exciting when you go home,” the superstar added.
Dean remains interested in Parton’s music
In talking about her loving husband, the 79-year-old said, “He loves music. But he’s not in the music business at all, so we have different things to talk about, his world and my world, and we work really well together.”
Their love is evident in the way they reunite
“We have a lot of love and respect for each other, and I think the key to all of it—we both have a crazy, warped sense of humor, so we have a lot of fun,” the superstar added of her and the 82-year-old’s different interests.

You might have seen Dean watching his superstar wife perform at one county fair or another, where he usually prefers to attend her performances.
Otherwise, the husband has been out of the public eye for more than 50 years now.

The two met in Music City
As recalled by Parton herself, she met Carl Dean on the street as she was walking to the laundromat the day she had just arrived in Music City, Nashville.
He had driven past her in a Chevrolet and called out, “You’re gonna get sunburnt out here, little lady!” From there on out they got to talking and fell in love.
The two practice their boundaries
Speaking with People in 2019, Dolly Parton said of her husband, “He’s always supporting me as long as I don’t try to drag him in on it.”
“He’s always been my biggest fan behind the scenes,” the superstar fondly added.
