Most days at the beach are spent frolicking in the water and enjoying the sun, but every now and then we get reminded of how unpredictable the open water can be.
That’s what happened to 17-year-olds Tyler Smith and Heather Brown during a skip day at Vilano Beach.
It was all fun and games until the current shifted and the pair was washed two miles from shore.

The strength of the current prevented them from swimming back and after two hours of treading water, the childhood friends thought they wouldn’t survive.
Exhausted, they began to pray.

“I cried out, ‘if you really do have a plan for us, like, come on. Just bring something.’” Tyler told WJAX-TV .
They were spotted by a boat that was traveling from South Florida to New Jersey.

As they swam to meet the vessel, they realized that the nameplate was almost a literal answer to their prayers.
It was called the “Amen.”

Heather described it: “The first words that came out of my mouth were, ‘God is real.'”
The men in the boat brought the teens safely to shore, saving their lives.
“There’s no other reason, no other explanation in the world other than God,” said Tyler.
