Noah Schnapp has come out as gay.
The 18-year-old actor, who stars as Will Byers on Netflix’s Stranger Things , revealed the news in a recent video posted to his TikTok page. His character on the series happens to be gay as well, and he’s now saying that they have more in common than we all thought.
‘More Similar To Will Than I Thought’
Schnapp captioned his video, “I guess I’m more similar to will than I thought,” and it shows him lying on the bed in a gray hoodie. He lip-synchs to audio saying, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”
Kept It Secret For 18 Years

There’s also a text overlay saying, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know.’”
Over Three Million Likes
The video has gotten more than three million likes so far as well as numerous comments that range from supportive to surprised. Many congratulated him, felt proud, and expressed their love. A few couldn’t believe it, while others said they knew it all along.
His ‘Stranger Things’ Character

It was recently revealed on Stranger Things that Schnapp’s character, Will, was gay, although there have been clues since the first season. In an interview with Variety in July, the actor said the show “hinted at that and slowly, slowly grew that storyline.” Season 4 confirms that Will loves his best friend, Mike.
‘100% Clear That He Is Gay’

Schnapp added, “Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike. But before, it was a slow arc. I think it is done so beautifully, because it’s so easy to make a character just like all of a sudden be gay.”
Will Resonates With Fans
He also talked about how Will is so relatable to fans because he is “such a real character.” He told the story of how a 40-year-old man approached him in Paris once to say that he saw himself in Will.
Happy For Him!
Schnapp continued, “[H]e was like, ‘Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much. That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.’ That just made me so happy to hear.”
And we’re so happy that Schnapp has come out and getting supported.
