Siblings are basically friends you can’t seem to get rid of. In the best of times, they can help you out of really tough situations. In the worst of times, they get on your nerves so much that you don’t even want to speak to them.
A Reddit user named Bumbie_Boat admitted to helping their sister, who is a new mom. The sister loves to go out, but the Reddit user does not. This creates a lot of tension in their family because they each have different needs that they feel aren’t being met. When the sister told the user off for not going out with her, it had them wondering if they really were in the wrong. They went to the AITI community for advice .
The User Told Their Story, Adding Updates As Well.

Helping Their Sister With The Baby

Because the sister’s husband could not take time off work to help his wife, OP went over to take care of chores. This is all fine and good, but problems began to rise when the sister started wanting to go out and do things. OP is an introvert, and has a lot on their plate already. Going out is the last thing on their mind.
The sister is pretty upset, though, because she wants to bring her sibling and baby out to parks and the like. But OP is constantly exhausted and doesn’t want to go, especially since they’d be the one pushing the stroller and all that. The sister now feels that OP doesn’t care about her wellbeing.
OP added a few updates to their story to explain that they do a lot of cooking and cleaning around the house. In addition, OP is the one who checks on the baby at night, and changes the diapers, even when the sister is home.
Redditors Agreed OP Did Nothing Wrong

At first, people thought that OP was being selfish, but after adding their edits and additional information, people began to see what was really going on. Most believed that OP was right to want to just have time to themselves.
Some Sided Against The Sister

Some thought the sister was being selfish and bratty for demanding so much from OP. Especially since OP takes care of a lot of work that the sister would normally have to worry about.
Remembering That The Sister Has PPD

It’s worth remembering that postpartum depression can make new moms act differently than they normally do. Though no one seemed to fault OP, there were some who did not want to fault the sister, either.
