With the advent of social media, culture has become more about sharing than keeping things private.
Even so, we can all decide how much we want to share and some draw the line looser than others. One new Australian mom has taken it all the way to the delivery room.
Sarah Stevenson isn’t new to the world of social media.

In fact, it’s kind of her job. At 26 years old, she’s built a niche for herself on YouTube promoting holistic health and fitness.
More than a million subscribers tune into her channel.

Her videos range from healthy recipes, to fitness routines, to mental health checkins. She also posts plenty of personal vlogs and has been open about her journey through her first pregnancy.
So it’s not really a surprise that she chose to document her delivery.

But what was surprising was how honest and real she kept the final product. Sarah chooses to show it all, whether it’s flattering or not.
Of course, the video is edited for time.

With pre-labor lasting 24 hours and active labor taking another 7, I think we can understand a bit of trimming.
But even if she removed some ugly parts, what remains is still incredibly raw.
The video starts with her in good spirits, bouncing on an exercise ball.

At that point, she wasn’t sure yet whether it was true labor yet, but plans were already in place to induce her the next day at the hospital.
But eventually it’s happening and she documents it all with the help of her husband.

Over the course of the labor, Sarah feels excitement, worry, pain, and a lot of impatience. She sheds tears and groans with every contraction, as one point crying in the shower with her husband and mom supporting her.
It’s so refreshing to see a real life labor when media so often gets it wrong.

Most of the time when a character gives birth on TV, she seems to just lie on her back the whole time and while it hurts, the delivery is pretty quick. It makes it hard for new moms to truly understand what to expect.
In the early morning of March 26, they welcomed their baby boy.

They’ve named him Fox Ocean Tilse, and everyone is now at home, happy and healthy.
I’m sure Sarah will continue to be just as candid about motherhood as she was about her labor.
