People will find anything to shame a mom over these days. Even (gasp!) going out in public or daring to wear makeup (what are they thinking?). Is it just me, or does this sound absolutely crazy?
Sadly, this is exactly what happened to one mom who simply posted a picture of herself wearing makeup and on a night out with her family.
Thankfully, this mom didn’t keep quiet and fought back against the haters.
Sophie Attwood is a PR managing director from the U.K. who recently welcomed her first child.
She gave birth to a baby girl in January and named her Isla. Congrats to Sophie and her fiancé!
Sophie enjoys doing her makeup every day and has even referred to it as her “war paint”.
She said in an interview with The Daily Mail that she even applied her makeup in-between contractions on her way to the hospital to give birth. You do you, Mama!
Shortly after giving birth, Sophie shared a photo of herself and Isla enjoying a night out.
“Haven’t slept in four days and I’m in agony behind the smile but I’m officially OUT of the house,” she said in the Instagram post.
Any mom out there reading this will understand what an accomplishment this is.
Sophie received a lot of positive comments like this one from people congratulating her.

However, mom-shamers soon started flooding her inbox with hurtful messages.
“I received direct messages like, ‘Why the hell are you out of the house so soon? Take time, you need to spend this time with your baby,’ ‘Four days and you have a full face of make-up?! Lol where do your priorities lie?'” she said .
Sophie was taken back by the negative response, especially when some of those people shaming her were her own friends.
“My friends began comparing themselves to me and saying that they felt pressured to do what I was doing, but I told them it just gave me a sense of normality and made me feel human again!” she said .
Ultimately, Sophie says she wears makeup for herself and now that she’s a mom, it helps give her a sense of routine and normalcy.
Moms need to make themselves feel good however they can. I’m glad Sophie is speaking out against the trolls and sharing why she chooses to wear makeup.
Since sharing her story, many moms have come out and applauded Sophie for fighting back against the mom-shamers.

Many moms feels anxious about going out in public after their baby is born, but they fully supported Sophie’s decision to do so and while wearing makeup.
People were ready to help Sophie shut down the haters.

I’m always amazed at how rude people can be online. Let’s just leave moms alone and let them live their best lives, okay? Okay.
