Mother’s Day is this weekend, so now is as good a time as any to stop and appreciate how incredible the mothers in our lives are.
Step-moms, foster moms, adoptive moms, biological – they’re all wonderful, incredible people and they basically deserve of all the love in the world and more.
But I think this New Zealand mom in particular deserves a bit more recognition than normal.
Nicolina Newcome had a feeling her bundle of joy was a bit bigger than the average baby before he was born.

According to The New Zealand Herald , she had been pretty sore and felt especially heavy throughout her pregnancy.
Her belly was so big, people thought she was having twins.

As it turns out, her height actually did a good job of hiding how big her baby truly was. So no one had any idea what hey were in for. Except for Newcome of course. A mother always knows.
The baby also had a set of powerful legs and would deliver some pretty painful kicks from inside her belly.
“I had a pretty difficult pregnancy and I was always complaining and I thought, ‘Man, am I soft? Is it really this bad to be pregnant? He’s so heavy’,” Newcome told NZ Herald.
There were some complications during delivery (the baby’s shoulder got stuck in Newcome’s pelvis), but eventually she was able to properly meet the little fella who had been knocking her for a loop from the inside out.
Of course, the mystery was all solved once the baby was born, weighing in at an incredible 13lbs.

Oh, and did we mention that Newcome delivered him without any epidural? Yeah, she’s basically superwoman.
“When he came out and he was 13 pounds, I was like, ‘See, see, I was allowed to complain, I wasn’t making it up,'” she said.
The average baby weights around 7-8lbs, which means he’s almost double the weight of your average newborn.

Does his mother care? Not one bit.
“I was more worried if we was okay, and he was fine, so I really didn’t care how big he was,” she said.
The doctors and nurses were shocked at the size of him, so they gave him a nickname they felt fit the best.
Hercules.
Although we would have also accepted The Incredible Hulk. Either one works for this not-so-little guy, who was born weighing about the same weight as your average six-month-old.
His parents, however, prefer to simply call him Tobias.
