There are certain aspects of American culture that really initiate the start of the holidays. For me, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is my signal that it’s officially socially acceptable to put up my Christmas tree (I think because of that movie Miracle on Whateverth street).
For a lot of people, Christmas decorations don’t go up until the White House puts up theirs.
Every year, the First Lady Of The United States is tasked with choosing a theme for the White House Christmas Decorations.

For last year’s holiday season, First Lady Melania Trump chose ‘American Treasures’ as the theme, with somewhat jolly, somewhat frightening crimson-colored trees lining the halls.
However, this year’s theme isn’t without its own American treasures.

As we can see, this display features an array of famous monuments representing different regions of the country.
Representing the West Coast is San Francisco’s towering Golden Gate Bridge.

And the Pacific Northwest was also covered by the inclusion of Seattle’s Space Needle.
And of course, a list of American Treasures wouldn’t be complete without Mount Rushmore.

Those from the Midwest may also be relieved to learn that the First Lady didn’t forget them as the famous Gateway Arch in St. Louis was also shown in her display.
And as any sharp-eyed Texans likely noticed, she also remembered the Alamo.

Finally, we have the Statue of Liberty representing the East Coast as a large gingerbread White House stands in the center of it all.
Thankfully, this year’s decor looks much more bright and festive.

The First Lady took to Facebook this weekend to share photos of the new White House decorations, and they’re honestly magical looking. Talk about a winter wonderland!
Melania announced that the 2019 Christmas decor theme is “The Spirit Of America.”

The color scheme is green, red, and gold and the decorations include a ton of warm-toned twinkle lights, tall Christmas trees, and of course, Melania’s touch of crimson-colored flowers (less ominous this time).
What do you think of this year’s White House Christmas decor theme?

I think we can all agree that the “Spirit of America” has a lot of Christmas spirit.
