For the past few weeks, fans of the Royal Family have been pouring over Netflix’s latest documentary series, Harry & Meghan , with a fine tooth comb. So far, the reviews have been less than favorable and heavy amounts of hate have been hurled the Duke and Duchess ‘ way.
People can’t seem to rectify Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down from their royal responsibilities with their desire to make a documentary film series. They’ve since issued an official press release in an attempt to provide clarity on the issue.

On the one hand, the first volume of Harry & Meghan was Netflix’s biggest documentary premiere in the history of the platform — reaching more than 28 million households. However, the insider docu-series has been met with a myriad of pitiful reviews, accusing the series of substituting overexposure in place of genuine insight or hard-hitting revelation. Right now, Harry & Meghan sits at 45% on the Tomatometer , against an Audience Score of just 12%.
As Well As Receiving Less-Than-Admirable Reviews, The Duke And Duchess Have Also Had Plenty Of Criticism Levied Their Way.
The majority of the hate stems from the perceived hypocrisy surrounding Harry and Meghan’s decision to film a documentary in the first place. Many have been quick to point out how when the Duke and Duchess stepped down from their regal responsibilities, they initially cited privacy as one of the main contributing factors in the decision-making process.
However, According To A Press Statement Made On Harry And Meghan’s Behalf, That Assertion Is False.
“The Duke and Duchess have never cited privacy as the reason for stepping back,” the statement reads. “This distorted narrative was intended to trap the couple into silence. In fact, their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties.”
A quick look at Harry and Meghan’s previous statement, made in January 2020, supports this claim. Absolutely nowhere or at any time do the Duke and Duchess cite privacy as a cause of their decision.
Both The Duke And Duchess Have Reiterated That The Netflix Series Was Born From A Desire To Tell Their Story On Their Own Terms.
“The tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion,” the statement continued. ” The facts are right in front of them .”
So far, no statement has been issued by the Royal Family in regard to the docu-series. Until the time comes that anything damaging or defamatory is uttered, Buckingham Palace appears content to stay mum on the subject.
