When you’re in a long-term relationship with someone, it’s rare to get to that point without hearing the question “When are you going to get married” a bunch of times.
Sure, marriage doesn’t fit every couple’s goals and even when it does, those on the outside of a relationship don’t always appreciate how large of a step it is.
So naturally, it’s not something that most couples rush into

But when somebody is ready to pop the question, the mystery of how they’re actually going to do that can seem about as daunting
For one man, the problem wasn’t that he didn’t know how to propose

Rather, it was that his plan relied on his beloved noticing that’s what he was trying to do. It’s like one of those “easier-said-than-done” kind of deals.
He knew it’d have to be special

So when it came time to pop the question, he knew it was going to take some serious thought. Edi Okoro of the U.K. is firm believer in thinking of a proposal that speaks to you personally and as a couple.
In Okoro’s case, this meant finding a way to spontaneously propose

This was because he’s not known for planning things. So, he wouldn’t have been able to arrange the traditional dinner or vacation without his girlfriend, Cally, catching on to what he was doing.
He took the ring with him everywhere

So instead, he bought the ring pictured here and carried it around until the right moment arose. After a month of searching for this right moment, Okoro got an interesting idea when Cally almost caught him staring at the ring.
He kept sneakily taking pictures of her and the ring

He was going to see how many opportunities to let her see the ring that he could get away with before it was time to propose. So now, his plan was to either find the right moment or to get caught with the ring. The latter was surprisingly hard to do.
At one point it was even right in front of her

In one case, he left the ring in Cally’s jewelry plate for two days without her ever noticing. Which is a baller move and she’s probably kicking herself now for not noticing.
He spent another month doing this

Okoro would spend an entire additional month seeing how many times he could get away with showing the ring in plain sight around her. In some cases, it was easy to see why she hadn’t noticed because she was asleep or he was taking one of these cheeky selfies behind her back.
There were moments where it was so close

There were other moments where it seemed like Cally was sure to notice Okoro had the ring. However, Okoro wrote on Facebook that Cally essentially can’t see without her glasses.
She stayed oblivious to it though

As long as he held the ring far enough away from her, she remained none the wiser when she wasn’t wearing them. Which almost seems like cheating, really.
Perhaps feeling pretty confident, he started getting bolder and bolder with his pictures

Like here for instance where he placed the right behind some clothing, perfectly hidden while an unsuspecting Cally sat cross-legged on the floor nearby.
Or here, where it definitely seems like she’s looking right at the ring

However, my guess is there’s either no money in that viewing device so she isn’t actually seeing anything, or he’s positioned the ring perfectly between both lenses so Cally can’t see it at all.
This picture was taken after a biking adventure, as Cally carried her bike up the stairs

I’m guessing he flashed the ring super quickly around the corner while her head was down and manged to snap a picture before he was found out. Truly, this man’s sneaky photo skills are unparalleled.
His most daring moment, however, had him placing the ring in Cally’s hand while she slept

In so many of these cases, she would’ve discovered everything if she had suddenly woken up for any reason, turned around while they were out together, or when he asked her stuff.
However, such a moment never came.
What did come, however, was the right moment and the couple eventually started their engagement

Amusingly, even though this photo was taken after Cally said yes, she wouldn’t be aware of the game Okoro was playing until several weeks later.
And we may not know it yet, but Okoro said that how he actually proposed was a story all on its own.
