Authentic posts are so rare on social media. Nowadays, Instagram has become full of models and influencers with perfectly curated content that make you feel major FOMO. While most Instagram models are well-intentioned and just happy to share their adventures, there are those who will stop at nothing to get the perfect pics for their feeds, even if it causes public inconvenience.
One Redditor ( u/creatingastorm ) had enough of this toxic behavior and gave in to doing petty revenge. He shared that his holiday was ruined by a couple who set up a tripod in a tourist spot. The photo-hungry couple took up space while everyone had to walk around to avoid their camera. To express his dismay, he walked in front of their camera and refused to move out of their shot.
“I’ve been doing this for a few days now and it feels f***ing great TBH. You get to take a picture, you don’t get to ruin everyone else’s visit!” he explained in his Reddit post.

Travel Influencers Behaving Badly
Travel content is extremely popular on Instagram. While looking at stunning holiday pics is entertaining, there is a dark side to this culture. For a lot of Instagram users, traveling has become a way to show off their luxurious lifestyles, feeding their egos with likes and followers. It has become less about the destination and more about self-promotion and “Insta-fame”.
In pursuit of “the perfect shot” for Instagram, influencers and models go to great lengths to get their travel pics. Because of this obsession, there have been many public disturbances and even fatal accidents from taking selfies and travel photos.
Travel influencers are notorious for posting filtered photos that often do not fully represent their travel experience or their life behind the camera. Many have gone into debt from trying to sustain a travel influencer lifestyle they can’t really afford, while the average Instagram user is left feeling depressed over pics that aren’t even real.
“Pictures are important memories from our travels, but so are the experiences we have. Social media should genuinely inspire us to travel, rather than make our experiences seem inferior to what we have seen,” says Forbes .
The next time you feel a pang of jealousy over a travel influencer’s vacation photo, keep in mind that Instagram is filtered and reality is often less glamorous.
