Mixed drink innovation is getting wild my peeps.
No one wants to go out and buy drink ingredients in the hot sun, then arrive back home to make a mediocre version because you didn’t read the Pinterest recipe right.
I used to have to rely on Derek, my favorite bartender, to make all my mixed drinks for me. Though Derek and I have an undeniably magical chemistry that cannot be described through the power of language, I needed my agency and independence back.
Also, Derek can’t make an Old Fashioned properly, which means that it was never really going to work out.
This is the time of year in which I go full on Jack Sparrow for my Malibu.
However, there is 100% an art to making mixed drinks with rum.
Too little mix, and it kind of tastes like you left your drink in a room next to some hand sanitizer. Too much mix, and you’re suddenly a lowly maid in the 1800s who needs to get a root canal from the county witch doctor, and they’re disinfecting your gums beforehand with a bottle of alcohol and your 17 children stand watch while Pa tells ’em “not to watch” and you’re like “If I don’t die from this I’ll probably die from the plague,” you know?
Sorry Derek, I think you’re officially out of a job.
Malibu just released a line of mixed drink pouches that come premade with all the required ingredients, including the rum.
Either put ’em in the cooler for a refreshing drink, or pop ’em in the freezer for a wonderful slushy effect.
There are four different scrumptious flavors to choose from.
We got Rum Punch; We got Daiquiri; We got Pineapple Twist; We got Blue Hawaiian. There’s legitimately a flavor for every mood. Can Derek cater to that? Didn’t think so.
The future is now.
Just open the built-in nozzle to access the 1.75 liters of summer sweetness. With 12.5% ABV per pouch, these puppies really pack a punch.
I’m sorry, Derek. When people don’t grow with you, you sometimes have to leave them behind. But hey, you’ll always be invited to my awkward acquaintance backyard BBQ parties. I’ll provide the Malibu pouches.
