Trump might be expecting moms’ new favorite president.
So on Tuesday, Donald Trump gave a thumbs up to the idea of paying new moms $5,000 per baby

The whole thing came up after some report leaked, saying the White House want to bump up the birth rate in the U.S.
“Sounds like a good idea to me,” is all Trump had to say to New York Post while sitting in the Oval Office, when someone asked him about the whole baby bonus thing.
The baby bonus idea was first reported by the New York Times

The New York Times was the first to talk about the whole ‘baby bonus’ thing. They dropped the story on Monday, saying the administration had been tossing the idea around behind the scenes.
White House aides have been meeting with policy experts
Apparently, the White House team has been talking with some policy experts and people who are big on boosting the birth rate, trying to figure ways to get more women to have bigger families.
There are a few ideas floating around right now
One of them is the $5,000 bonus for new moms, but there’s also talk about giving 30% of Fulbright scholarships to people who are married or have kids. Another idea is that the government might start funding programs to teach women about their menstrual cycles, helping them know when they’re ovulating and more likely to get pregnant.
But this all started when birth rates in the U.S. have reached record lows lately
Birth rates in the U.S. have been dropping for a while now, and they hit a new low in 2023. Only about 3.6 million babies were born that year, which means the whole “2.5 kids per family” thing is basically gone. In fact, families in the U.S. had just under two kids on average last year.
Lately, there’s been a shift in who’s having babies
The birth rate for teens and younger women has been going down, but more women in their 30s and 40s are choosing to have kids now.
The White House has not confirmed which plan will move forward…yet
So far, White House officials haven’t said which of these plans, if any, they’re actually going to move forward with. They’re keeping things pretty quiet for now.
The White House says Trump wants to uplift families

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke to The Times and said that Trump is all about uplifting American families. “The President wants America to be a place where all children can grow up safe and reach the American dream,” she said.
She added, “As a mother myself, I’m proud to work for a president who’s making real moves to leave a better country for the next generation.”
