Dame Maggie Smith is one of the most iconic personas in the history of Hollywood. And that goes for both the British audiences and the U.S audiences.
She has made her mark in the world in both theater, films, and on television.
But as she looks back on what she has done, she has some things to say about her roles.
We all know and love Maggie Smith.

She’s a phenomenal actress, she’s a dame, and she’s quite frankly, just an all-around iconic actress.
Now, this actress doesn’t have any regrets, but she does have something to say about her most iconic roles.
Recently, Maggie Smith opened up on what it was like to play her two (arguably) most famous roles.

Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter films and Violet Crawley from the series Downton Abbey .
Although these are some of our most beloved characters, that was not the case for her.
Here’s what she had to say about the whole thing:

“I am deeply grateful for the work in ‘Potter’ and indeed ‘Downton’,” she said . “But it wasn’t what you’d call satisfying. I didn’t really feel I was acting in those things.”
So basically, it’s all about coming to terms with your own preferences.

“I wanted to get back to the stage so much because theatre is basically my favorite medium, and I think I felt as though I’d left it all unfinished.”
As long as she’s happy, that’s what counts!
