Authorities have confirmed the tragic death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, revealing that the singer “jumped from the balcony” of his hotel room in Buenos Aires.
The 31-year-old had been on holiday with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, when the devastating incident occurred.
In an official statement released to The Associated Press, Buenos Aires police confirmed:

“Payne had jumped from the balcony of his room,” clarifying that it was a deliberate act. This confirmation dispelled earlier rumors of an accidental fall or foul play in his passing.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Payne died from “multiple traumas” after a 40-foot fall, resulting in severe internal and external injuries.

Emergency responders were alerted to the incident after a 5 p.m. call about “an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”
Hotel staff had reportedly called emergency services twice, urging immediate action.

The Mirror reported that one call said, “We have a guest who’s off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room.” Despite these calls, authorities were unable to intervene before the tragic fall.
Payne’s hotel room was found in a state of disarray.

Reports indicated a broken television and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the room. White powder, burnt foil, and a singed soda can were among the items seized for further testing in the investigation.
Alberto Crescenti, head of Buenos Aires emergency medical services, said that Payne’s death was immediate due to the extent of his injuries.

“He suffered a cranial fracture and severe trauma that made resuscitation impossible,” Crescenti told reporters. Emergency responders arrived, but it was too late to save him.
Staff at the hotel had grown increasingly alarmed in the hours leading up to Payne’s death.

One employee, named Esteban, reportedly stated, “We need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger.” This sentiment was echoed in the two urgent calls placed before the incident.
Investigations continue as toxicology reports are pending.
