Since fans took notice of Lana Del Rey’s new police officer boyfriend, Sean “Sticks” Larkin, she has had to defend him from backlash — reassuring her fans that he is a “good cop”.
Since photos of Lana Del Rey and her new police officer boyfriend made their rounds rounds on the internet, fans have not held back their concerns.

Police officers have a notorious and unfortunate history of abuse of power, police brutality and domestic abuse — something Lana’s fans seem very worried about.
After doing a little bit of digging, here’s what we know so far about Sean Larkin:

Aside from being a 46-year-old police officer for a gang unit in Tulsa’s police department, we also know (according to his Twitter Bio) that he describes his job title as “Full Time Tulsa POPO.”
He has been working for the Oklahoma unit for 21 years, according to local news station 102.3 KRMG.

That’s not the only time he’s been on TV , however.
Sean is regularly on TV as an analyst on A&E’s “Live PD”.

For three hours live every Friday and Saturday night when the show airs live, he gives viewers an inside, unfiltered look at what police officers on patrol across the country are dealing with.
He also hosts A&E’s “Live PD Presents PD CAM”.

It’s a show that shows viewers direct footage from police dashboard cameras, body cameras, and helicopters.
If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend giving it a watch — it’s very intense.
Aside from police work and being a TV personality, Sean is also working on becoming an author.

According to his Twitter , he’s in the midst of writing a book that dissects “incidents where officers were falsely accused of misconduct or criminal activity”.
And there’s actually an interesting story behind his nickname, “Sticks”.

Last spring he opened up to SiriusXM about how his nickname came to be.
He explained that earlier in his career her was pursuing an alleged criminal by foot, without a gun or weapon of any kind, and managed to tackle him to the ground.

His captain at the time scolded him for it, initially calling him a “[expletive]-stick”.
Over the years the nickname evolved and shortened to “Sticks”.
Sticks also *loves* CrossFit.

Which is a controversial hobby, to say the least.
So, anyway, in a recent profile for the Los Angeles Times, Lana took the opportunity to address the concerns of her fans regarding her new boyfriend.

The interviewer asked her if understands where her fans are coming from and why they seem to care so much.
I’d argue that they not only care but are rather enraged, but I digress.
She revealed that she had no idea the photos of her and Sean were being taken and that it completely caught her off-guard.
She joked that she “would’ve worn something different,” if she knew the photos were being taken.
Lana thinks the concerns of her fans are justified and totally understands the juxtaposition of her fans caring about her, but showing in it an overly defensive and judgemental way.

She compared it to a musician that she is a fan of.
“I care about what Bob Dylan is doing right now,” she joked.
“I’m curious to know if he’s wearing a hoodie or a blazer. I get it.”
Lana admitted that she was surprised to see the photos online because she has never had to deal with anything like that in previous relationships.
“It’s funny because I was with someone for years and we never had that problem,” she said .
Although seeing the photos online came as a bit of a shock, she wasn’t worried for fans to find out about her budding romance, or that he is a police officer.

“He’s a good cop. He gets it,” she said.

“He sees both sides of things.”
She seems oddly calm considering her fans are so disapproving.

Maybe she’s got other stuff to worry about???
Well, I guess that’s that!
