Jonathan Joss, 59, was found dead outside his house in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, June 1.
Police confirmed he’d been shot and killed. Joss was known for voicing John Redcorn in King of the Hill.
Police say the shooting happened near the road
Police said they got a call around 7 p.m. about a shooting. When they got to the scene, they found Joss lying close to the road.
They tried to save him while waiting on paramedics. But once EMS showed up, they said he was already gone.
The suspect is a 56-year-old neighbor
Officers tracked down a man who had taken off in a car after the shooting. They arrested 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam.
Police say he lived nearby and was Joss’s neighbor. He’s now been charged with murder.
The investigation’s still going.
Joss made his mark on King of the Hill
Joss was best known for playing John Redcorn on King of the Hill, the animated show that ran in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
He wasn’t the original voice, though. He stepped into the role during season 3 after the first actor, Victor Arron, died in a car crash in 1996.
He was about to return for the new revival
Joss was supposed to be part of the King of the Hill reboot, which is set to hit Hulu in August. Recording had already started.
Just hours before he died, he’d shared a video on Instagram walking around Austin, saying the “reboot is up and moving.”
His acting career went far beyond just one show
Outside of King of the Hill, Joss played Chief Ken Hotate on Parks and Recreation. He also showed up in Tulsa King, Ray Donovan, True Grit, The Magnificent Seven, and more.
He had just been at the ATX TV Festival the week before. He sat in the audience while co-stars Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom, Toby Huss, and one of the new writers, Saladin K. Patterson, talked about the upcoming King of the Hill revival during a panel.
