Keanu Reeves. What a national treasure.
Seriously, you’re not going to find someone more likable than this guy. And today, I get to write about him in his new movie. I love my job.

And it’s been making some waves.
It’s funny, it’s charming, it’s the rom-com you need this summer if you want to laugh, possibly cry, and definitely if you want to fall in love.
It’s got Ali Wong.
For those of you who don’t know this hilarious comedian, she’s had a couple of stand-up specials on Netflix that were downright hilarious.

It’s got Randall Park.
Amongst other things, you might remember him mostly from The Interview , where he played Kim Jong Un.
Again, like his co-star, if you haven’t seen this flick and want to hurt your stomach, check it out.
They play Sasha and Marcus.
And it’s as classic as sitcom stories get. Their two friends who have a brief fling, separate and then after many years reconnect.
In the end they… well, I don’t want to spoil anything.
I will spoil one thing though.
Sasha goes on a double date with Marcus and his girlfriend, Jenny. And who does Sasha bring to the date?
None other than America’s sweetheart, the star of John Wick , Keanu Reeves.
Now, it’s safe to say people like Keanu Reeves.
I mean, there wouldn’t be a whole subreddit dedicated to him being awesome if he wasn’t universally loved.
Seriously, he and Tom Hanks are two people who you just love to… well, love.
There are so many instances of him being nice.
It’s almost become a meme.
He’s paid special attention to wheelchair-bound fans, he’s stayed behind at airports when buses get canceled with other lowly non-famous scum, and he’s extraordinarily humble.
Here’s how he got the part:
Ali Wong said in an interview with Rolling Stone :
“We were like, ‘Who’s a dude that would be Marcus’ worst nightmare for Sasha to start dating once he realizes he’s been in love with her his entire life?”
They wanted someone huge.
Ali Wong continues : “Like, an iconic Asian man.” And, Asian or not, there are few who are more iconic than…
“Keanu Reeves” she finishes. Name dropping like a mother… er… uh… father?
Keanu Reeves is in fact, Asian.
I didn’t mean to imply he wasn’t in the last segment.
Reeves is part Chinese and Hawaiian, and I mean I’m no expert on Asian culture but I’m pretty sure being Chinese makes you Asian.
He is, in fact, also an acting genius.
There’s a reason we love him so much… besides the fact that he’s cool in real life… besides the fact that he’s had a hard life and is still so positive, but also because he’s a talented actor.
He improvised some of the funniest scenes in the movie.
In the same Rolling Stone interview as before, Ali Wong says that Keanu had a hand in some very funny moments. She said:
“At the Chateau Marmont, he pitched a couple of things that made it in. Like wearing glasses that had no lens,”
She continues…
Saying : “And the part in the game night scene where he lists all of these Chinese dignitaries, that was all his idea”.
That I remember being side-splittingly funny.
And finally…
She finishes with :
“And when he says, ‘I don’t have a problem, Sasha. What’s your problem?’ and starts air-fighting. It’s hard to describe just how shockingly funny he is.”
Shockingly?
Ali, honey, we’ve known Keanu can kill comedy since _ Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure_.
And hopefully, and I mean hopefully, we’ll get to see him kill it in comedies much more in the future.
