An audio recording has been newly unearthed of actor Jonathan Majors, 35, admitted to having attacked his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, 32. This comes after a jury had convicted him of misdemeanor assault and harassment in December 2023 and after his recent attempt at returning to the entertainment scene.
The clip surfaced on Monday
The audio clip came to light when Rolling Stone reported on it on Monday 17 March. It comes just days before Majors’ movie Magazine Dreams is set to come out on Friday.
The movie had been postponed from its original release date in December 2023 in part because of the Majors’ conviction of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
The clip contradicts his previous words
The audio recording which evidently shows Majors admitting to having assaulted Jabbari seems to contradict his previous statements of having never hurt her or any woman in his life.
Majors can be heard acknowledging that he shoved Jabbari against a car and strangled her with his hands in the audio reported by Rolling Stone.
What he said in the audio clip
The outlet reported that the audio clip was recorded after a days-long fight between him and Jabbari.
In it, Majors can be heard saying, “I’m ashamed I’ve ever – I’ve never [been] aggressive with a woman before. I’ve never aggressed a woman – I aggressed you.”
Jabbari is heard confronting him
“You strangled me and pushed me against the car,” Jabbari is heard replying to him, to which Majors responds, “Yes, all those things are under ‘aggressed’, yeah. That’s never happened to me.”
When asked if he had attacked her for being sarcastic he can be heard replying, “Well, it’s clearly more than that,” with Jabbari then remarking, “Something inside of you.” This prompted Majors to reply, “Yeah, towards you.”
Majors had been convicted in December 2023
Majors was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment in December 2023 after an argument that got physical with Jabbari earlier that year.
The two had started arguing in a chauffeured car but then the fight moved to a street in Manhattan where Majors struck Jabbari on the head, with her saying that he twisted her arm behind her back, and squeezed her middle finger till he broke it.
The actor had claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor
At the time of the trial, Majors had claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor and that he was trying to get away from her.
When he was interviewed by ABC News at the time, he denied having ever hit any woman, saying he was “reckless with [Jabbari’s] heart – not with her body.”
Majors and Jabbari had agreed to settle out-of-court
According to The Guardian, Majors avoided jail time when the judge ruled he would undergo a counseling program for a year in April 2024.
Months later in November, it was reported that Jabbari dropped the assault case and agreed with Majors that they would settle the matter in an out-of-court settlement.
Majors is back in the entertainment scene
After his conviction in 2023, the actor was fired by Marvel Studios from his role as Kang the Conqueror, and his movie Magazine Dreams was postponed for over a year. It is now set to come out this Friday 21 March.
Before the movie’s release, the Hollywood Reporter published a few quotes from other figures in the movie industry who showed Majors support. Some of the statements were made by actors like Michael B Jordan, Whoopi Goldberg, and Matthew McConaughey.
As of yet, Majors has not addressed the audio recording published by Rolling Stone.
