To kick off 2020 on a positive note, YouTube and Television personality Jazz Jennings proudly showed off her gender confirmation surgery scars with an emotional post on Instagram.
YouTube and Television personality Jazz Jennings rang in the new year by posting one photo for every year over the last decade.

But her photo for the year of 2019 was by far the most touching.
For those of you that don’t already know who Jazz Jennings is, here’s what you need to know:

She’s a 19-year-old LGBT rights activist, and YouTuber, best known for being the star of her own TLC series, I Am Jazz .
Her reality show, “I Am Jazz” covers her day-to-day life being a transgender youth and the struggles she has to face.

Telling by this photo, Jazz has identified as transgender since she was very young.
In spite of all the hateful and ignorant comments she recieves on social media, she has stayed true to herself and continued to be as transparent as possible with her fans.

For 19 years old, she has already become such a huge inspiration to so many.
Anyway, as I mentioned, Jazz has kept her fans in the loop throughout her entire transition journey.

While she’s been confident in who she is for quite some time, she hadn’t undergone gender reassignment surgery until late 2018.
Which she documented and aired on her show in March, 2019.

The night the episode aired, she posted this photo.
“Thank you so much to my family for being the best support system I could ask for,” she wrote.
“I am the most privileged person on the planet to have such incredible people accompanying me on every step of my journey.”

“And always embracing my authentic identity.”
“I’m sorry that I’m not the most active on social media and I don’t interact with you all as much I can,” she continued.

“But your acceptance is so valuable, and your attitudes toward trans people are changing the world for the better.”
Jazz shared that 2018 was rough for her, and the surgery didn’t go as planned.
“I experienced a major complication with my gender confirmation surgery and wound up back in the OR one week after the initial procedure,” she wrote.
“It was a tough journey, but experiences like that one only make us stronger in the end.”

“Though it can be hard at times, a positive mindset and the support of those around you can help you conquer any challenge.”

“Thank you to all my fans who have supported me throughout the years!” she added.
Now, nearly a year since the surgery, she is proudly showing off her scars with a sentimental post on Instagram.

“These are my scars on full display in #2019,” she began.
“I’m proud of my scars and love my body just the way it is,” she went on.

“I call them my battle wounds because they signify the strength and perseverance it took to finally complete my transition.”

Her post was quickly met with a refreshing number of supportive comments from fans and other members of the LGBT community.

Forbes social media expert Joey Hickson commented, applauding Jazz on her personal journey and wishing her all the best in 2020.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” star, Peppermint, chimed in with this uplifting comment:

I can practically hear Peppermint’s voice saying this!
It’s so inspiring to see how supportive the LGBT community is of each other.
Jazz’s mom left a comment that nearly brought a tear to my eye!

I cannot stress this enough: This is how all moms of LGBT youth should be.
This fan, who has also undergone gender confirmation surgery commented, suggesting that tattoos are a great way to get creative with scars.

Scars, but make it art!
Congratulations to Jazz on her gender confirmation surgery and kudos to her for rocking her scars!
