It’s important to have role models: in life and in love . Role models give us something to aspire toward — they make us want to be better people.
Among the Hollywood elite , I’d argue there are no better role models for a healthy relationship than Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet. When it comes down to it — they’re everything couples should hope to be.

Jason Momoa was always destined to play ‘Aquaman’ in the DC Universe.
Jason’s first acting gig was on Baywatch: Hawaii . From there, he went on to star in Stargate: Atlantis (Atlantis being the mythical home of Aquaman). Finally, came his breakthrough role as Khal Drogo on GoT — whose home was known as the Dothraki Sea.
Fate also played a part in Jason meeting the love of his life, Lisa Bonet.

Growing up, Jason idolized Lisa and harbored an intense crush for most of his adolescent years.
During an interview on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jason revealed how he was in love with Lisa years before ever meeting her in person. “Ever since I was 8 years old and I saw her on TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one!'” Jason joked .
18 years later, Jason manifested his childhood fantasy during a chance run-in with Lisa at a jazz club.
This was right around the time when Jason was due to begin his four-seasons-long run on Stargate: Atlantis . Jason told James that he was simply in the right place at the right time.
What initially caught Lisa’s eye was Jason’s huge dreadlocks.
Jason fully admits that the driving force behind him wanting to dread his hair was to impress Lisa. Fortunately for him — it worked. “She goes, you know, ‘I’m Lisa.’ I was like, I turned around to my friend and was, like, ‘EEEEEEEEEEEK’. I had [expletive] fireworks going off inside me, man!”
At the time, Jason was living in a hotel and didn’t own a car — so he convinced Lisa to give him a ride home.
Before they arrived back at the hotel, the two made a stop at the 101 Coffee Shop in Hollywood. Jason says that it was Lisa’s drink order that sealed the deal. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe I’m with a woman who ordered a Guinness. I love her'” he told Men’s Health .
It’s been more than 16 years since Jason and Lisa’s impromptu first date.
A lot has changed from the first moment that the couple sat down to share a pint of Guinness together but one thing remains the same — their undying love and dedication for one another.
Jason was recently asked if their was a secret to his and Lisa’s longstanding relationship.
He thought for a moment before laughing out loud. “Haha! No. Men are idiots and women are crazy,” he explained to Men’s Health . “Generally speaking, I’m always wrong, so I just apologize.”
As well as a willingness to apologize, Jason says it’s important to let the person you love know how much you love them.
“They’re queens, man. Take care of your queen, and she’ll take care of her king. Just do everything you can for her,” Jason stated matter-of-factly.
As well as doing everything for one another, Lisa and Jason try to be there for one another as much as possible.
Back when Jason was shooting Aquaman in Jason’s homeland of Hawaii, Lisa decided to gather up the kids and come and stay with him for six months .
By renewing their commitment to one another on a daily basis, Lisa and Jason intend on staying together forever.
All of us want to believe that our destiny is written on the moon and in the stars. Couples like Jason and Lisa allow us to believe that our own special love story is out there, just waiting to be discovered.
