Jane Fonda shocked the world when she announced that she’s currently battling cancer. This isn’t her first bout with the illness either, having survived breast cancer in the past, and she’s already feeling certain she’ll survive this too.
She provided an update on her situation that says she’s feeling great, while also recognizing how lucky she is to have high-end care available to her.
Last week, Jane Fonda announced that she has cancer.
She posted a selfie on Instagram and in the caption explained what was happening. She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and had already begun chemotherapy treatments.
“This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky,” she wrote.
Now, almost a week later, she’s provided an update.
She wrote a blog post in which she says, “Many have asked how I am feeling. Well today, about 3 weeks from my first chemo session, I must tell you that I feel stronger than I have in years.”
She’s extremely confident in her ability to overcome this.
“This is not my first encounter with cancer. I’ve had breast cancers and had a mastectomy and come through very well and I will do so again,” she writes.
“I have been deeply moved and uplifted by all the expressions of love and support […].”
She’s still pointing out the injustice within the healthcare system too.
“As I said in my statement last week,” Fonda writes, “I am painfully aware that the top-drawer treatment I receive is not something everyone in this country can count on and I consider that a travesty. It isn’t fair, and I will continue to fight for quality health care for all.”
Fonda is refusing to let this diagnosis slow her down.

While she’s definitely taking it seriously, and hopefully treating herself and her body well during chemotherapy, she’s still doing what she can to advocate for her beliefs and get others involved in political action.
