As the political situation is getting heated up between Canada and the United States, an X (formerly Twitter) user brought a Canadian cafe cooking up the “Trump Sandwich” back to life amidst the political heat between the two countries.
Users online are having their fair share of fun with it online, while others are not so pleased with what the humorous sandwich is about.
What brought the sandwich back to life
What struck the match to the ongoing fire was one of US President Donald Trump’s executive orders imposing “catastrophic” tariffs to “hold China, Mexico and Canada accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US.”
Trump showed Canada no mercy
Trump imposed 25% tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico while he only imposed a 10% tax on China. Additionally, he declared a national emergency under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
The fight has been going back and forth
Trump didn’t stop at these measures but he also took an extra step to threaten Canada by hitting its dairy farmers with a 241 percent tariff on exports into the US.
Premier of Ontario Doug didn’t take these blows silently as he threatened to take aim at the American’s electric bills since Canada supplies the US with electricity.
The “Trump Sandwich”

The hilarious post from 2016 went viral once more as people brought it back to life.
The menu had the sandwich’s name and detailed its ingredients, which included: “WHITE BREAD – Full of BALONEY – W/ RUSSIAN DRESSING AND A SMALL PICKLE.”
Some Trump supporters loved the sandwich
“As an American I absolutely love this!” One user wrote, while another added: “I’m a Trump guy, but I’ll give it to you, this is solid.”
“Love that Trump Sandwich wit from Canada, sharp, funny, and oh-so Canadian! Standing tall against tariffs with humor and heart. Cheers to our northern neighbors for keeping it real!” A third user elaborated.
Premier of Ontario Ford took some serious actions
Firstly, he vowed to cut the power off from hundreds of thousands of Americans in areas such as New York, Minnesota, and Michigan, if Trump doesn’t stop escalating the situation. Secondly, he moved forward with a “25 percent surcharge on electricity exports,” at a press conference that was held on March 10.
How will the situation unfold?
Premier of Ontario Ford fought back hard, but is that enough to stop Trump from escalating the situation? Or will Trump keep this back-and-forth running?
Also, will another meme carry the “Trump Sandwich” legacy? Or are memes beyond repairing the situation?
